Yep......but if your starting pressure is TOO low, it's got too far to go to reach the "optimal" starting pressure. If your pressure is too low when you go to sleep, it's like not having any pressure at all and you're going to get lots of events......UNTIL the pressure gets higher.

The pressure rise sometimes only occurs after the machine senses an apnea, but by then it's too late to stop that particular apnea from occurring. The machine's pressure rise tends to stop subsequent apneas, but can't really do anything to fix the first few apneas until the pressure rises to a therapeutic value.

Raising the minimum pressure simply minimizes the number of these residual apneas. Hence, people find that their AHI is a little lower when the minimum pressure is close to titration pressure.
