So Saturday night I go to bed at about 10pm and put the mask on....and it was one of those nights where I just couldn't fall asleep. I laid there for 15 minutes, and then decided to grab my phone (a no-no I know to get sleepy) and browsed Facebook, played games and etc because I just was not sleepy. After 45 more minutes, I turned the machine off and got up and went to watch some TV. While I was up I decided to open Dream Mapper app to see how my hour of being awake with the mask on looked. It showed I had an AHI of 15.5% for that hour....I should've screen grabbed but didn't and I have not opened the night off of the data disk yet. My question: How can my AHI be at 15.5 for an hour when I'm awake?
For the night it shows my AHI was off the charts at 37.3 for just under five hours of mask time with a 100% mask fit. I had 104 total clear airway apneas, 42 obstructive and 28 total hypops. I will say that Saturday night I did not sleep well at all. My AHI has been averaging about 6.9 over the first month of use with a high night before Saturday of 19.2 (or so).
I'll try to download the graphs tonight but it just seemed odd. Last night I was back down to 5.2 AHI for five and a half hours...

The only thing I can think of is to try unplugging the machine for a minute or so and then plug it back in to "reset" it. I know that has worked for some ResMed S9 users when the machine was goofy with the AHI.

Awake events don't count. False positives if you want to think that way.
These machines only measure air flow with no way to determine sleep status.
Awake/semi awake breathing can be very irregular and confuse the machine. We call it SWJ or sleep/wake/junk. Just have to shrug our shoulders and ignore it and move on.
If you happened to have turned the machine off at some point while you are awake you can turn off that session and remove those awake events from the calculations.

What pugsy said... asleep breathing tends to be very regular (when you're not having some breathing problem...)
awake breathing, however, tends to be very irregular.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense. Still learning as I go. it's been back down the last two nights to 5.2 and 3.4 but I'm still having problems keeping the mask on more than 5 hours or so. Sometime during the early morning hours typically it appears between 3:30 am and 5:00 am I rouse up and take it off but I don't remember doing it.
