Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
So I have been using the nuance gel for a bit now....it has worked fairly well, but I must admit, it is difficult to make sure no leaks occur for me.....between wearing a chin strap, laying on the pillow without issue, and then making sure there is enough slack in hose so no pulling issues, makes it a little stressful at night.....but lately I have been having issues with leaking a bit....I can tell sometimes as I can feel more air around the nostril blowing around....So then I end up pulling mask tight and of course you get the nose soreness......So, I was thinking about trying the dream wear gel as its kind of the same premise, but seems to me, will be easier to keep in place with smaller chance of causing a leak during sleep.......
Now my question is, since the dream wear gel uses the head gear as a path to push air thru, do you think there needs to be a pressure increase to compensate for how much more effort the air is going to have to push thru to get to the nose......with the nuance gel, its simple and straight path of air from hose to mask....

No...there is no need for a change in pressure when going to the DreamWear mask system.
The flow of the air will compensate as needed to meet the pressure selected.

"Some" people fantasize that air flow is inadequate when one side is pinched
--but they are WRONG.
The cross-section of either air tube is at least as great as the smallest usable section
of the human air passage. Many are the wonders of nature.

Re: Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
Have you tried the Dream Wear gel headgear? I'm curious. I've been tending to have my Nuance gel pillows too tight lately and I"m not sure why. I am considering another type. I don't have leak problem though.

Re: Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
I have tried both. I have virtually no leaks with the Nuance gel pillows. Leaks on and off all night long with the DreamWear gel. However, typically not above the 24L.min redline. Because my sleep is fragmented, multiple wake ups, I notice the leaking and spend a fair bit of time fiddling with the mask.

Re: Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
I see. I took a look at a photo online of the Dreamwear headgear and I don't think it would do what I want. I'm in search of head gear that doesn't go across the top of the head. Why isn't going around the back enough? I'm not sure I understand what the top strap accomplishes. For me, it seems that the back and the top straps work against each other and that just one around the back would be better. I'll have to keep looking.booksfan wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:08 pmI have tried both. I have virtually no leaks with the Nuance gel pillows. Leaks on and off all night long with the DreamWear gel. The portion of the Dreamwear frame that goes across the top of the head is where the hose connects. To me, that's one of the advantages of the Dreamwear masks - no hose connection in front of your face.I see. Re: Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
There is only one way to get the right mask. Find the mask you like best or can at least stand. Take it and yourself to a plastic surgeon. Have the Doctor do the necessary surgery to your face so that it fits the mask.
Re: Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
I tried the dreamwear gel the last couple nights.....I do like the fit of the gear, like the hose behind me, and it does fit more securely on the nose with less potential of leaks.....I will say, air flow does not feel as strong, due to the air going thru the head gear.....I can tell in the beginning, that i'm breathing a little more rapidly as it feels not enough air coming thru......Will probably bump pressure up a bit.....

Okay. So, now, I'm rethinking this. I suppose I'll have to just try it. I've never changed gear though. I'm with the same thing I picked out when I first started. Do they let me try one? Do I pay out of pocket? Not sure about that. I have BCBS of NC.

Re: Nuance Gel vs Dream wear Gel
I had a GREAT DME that let me try about 10 (I think) different masks the first few weeks! I was going back once or twice a week to get a different one for what seemed like forever. It is a small, local company; they were very patient and accommodating! RTP area, NC--PM me if you want to know who they are.
