Messing with melatonin, CBD and GABA

Post by Lhmaguire » Sat Mar 31, 2018 7:15 am

Hi! I would love any input on a topic that has stumped medical professionals. I have OSA, and am on what I think is an APAP. I have my lowest number of hyponeas per hour when I am all out totally drunk. As that is not feasible on a daily basis, I have been experimenting and the closest I can come is a cocktail of CBD oil (15 mg), a GABA supplement (125mg) and melatonin (2.5mg). I’m concerned about the long term effects of taking melatonin and really know nothing about GABA. My dr told me not to worry about any number of hypopneas under 5 per hour, but I’m kind of obsessed with chasing a good score. For the record, I really never get above 4 per hour, even on a “bad” score night.

My question is: 1/ should I take the supplements and have 2 episodes per hour, or not mess with my glands and be happy with below 5. And 2/ why would suppressing my central nervous system give me fewer hypopneas?! Any input would be appreciated.

I would forget all the supplements it's not worth it just to drop your AHI a point....You don't know that it will drop your AHI..every night is different..(I should mention that I do take 1.5mg melatonin to help me sleep...not to drop my AHI)

I would find out if your machine is compatible with sleepyhead software. That way you can share your data with us and most likely get better numbers without need of alcohol or supplements.

One little thing to think about, if you die in you sleep without drugs, you AHI will be lower, and the next night it will be Zero! Jim
