Hghi leak rate
Hghi leak rate
I’ve been having large leaks the past several days. It’s usually for about an hour, and the rest of the night is normal. (Sleepyhead data). I audio recorded my sleep last night, and during that period, the machine sounded very noisy, and I wasn’t snoring, and sounded like I was still breathing normally. Any ideas? I’ve never had this issue before

Maybe opening your mouth? Tape it shut one night and see.dream321 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 8:29 amI’ve been having large leaks the past several days. Re: Hghi leak rate
I have seen similar prolonged large leaks and it was mask movement. Verified by taping my mouth to eliminate the chance of mouth breathing/leaking happening.
Slept right through them too. It happens.
If I sleep good and feel good...I shrug my shoulders and move on if all I see about an hour or so and random and rare.
Now half the night...and happening often several nights in a row...then I would investigate deeper.

Re: Hghi leak rate
I think I’ll start by pushing the bed closer to my night table so there may be less pull on the tube. I know I’m not a mouth breather. And if I was I’d expect large leaks throughout the entire night.Pugsy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 8:35 amI have seen similar prolonged large leaks and it was mask movement. Re: Hghi leak rate
If you think that the hose is getting some extra tension on it that is causing the cushion to pull away ever so slightly from the nose and moving things closer doesn't help you might think about adding just a little more hose length.
If I was going to do that I would add this short hose. I doesn't need any special adapters and it is ultra light weight and flexible.

Re: Hghi leak rate
I think it might be more likely the weight of the tube that dangles down between my bed and night table. My mask is the Dreamwear so the tube attaches at the top of my head, but I still think tension on the frame may effect how the nasal piece sits. Hopefully, this is the answer. I don’t think it’s the mask itself, since there are no leaks in it, and I’m fine the majority of the night.Pugsy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 9:00 amIf you think that the hose is getting some extra tension on it that is causing the cushion to pull away ever so slightly from the nose and moving things closer doesn't help you might think about adding just a little more hose length.

Re: Hghi leak rate
Anyone can become a mouth breather (esp. once asleep) at anytime and not know it... and what your bed partner says they think happens at the beginning of the night may not reflect what happens when they're asleep later on. Don't assume anything.
Re: Hghi leak rate
I use the Dreamwear as well. I run the rose to the bed then up and over my pillow to the mask. Then I push the pillow against the backboard which kind of holds it in place and make sure I give myself appropriate slack so I can toss and turn without issue.dream321 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 9:07 amI think it might be more likely the weight of the tube that dangles down between my bed and night table.
