continued tiredness, aerophagia, reflux
Hi. I'm wondering if you all can help me. I have primarily UARS (moderate level with mild actual sleep apnea). I've been using CPAP consistently (averaging 9 hours a night) for many years and still struggle with exhaustion. I've had many sleep studies and they've tweaked my pressure many times. I've now been using BiPap for about 6 months with varying pressure with no improvement. I tend to wake up with what I'm assuming is aerophagia - lots of burping and feeling full of air. Last night I woke up to the horrible sensation of stomach acid coming way up into my throat, pretty much into my mouth. It burned and felt awful and disgusting. I've never been diagnosed with reflux, but have wondered if that has been part of my issue. I'm so tired that I'm not able to stay up past my kids' bedtimes to sort through all of the info on this forum and online. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Please let me know. Thank you!

This is a common problem.dreamsofsleep wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:06 amaerophagia - lots of burping and feeling full of air
Some ideas ------------> wiki/index.php/Aerophagia
That can irritate the airway causing swelling and making sleep-disordered breathing worse.dreamsofsleep wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:06 amLast night I woke up to the horrible sensation of stomach acid coming way up into my throat, pretty much into my mouth. Also, I would put the head of the bed on bed risers. ----> https://www.google.com/search?q=bed+ris ... e&ie=UTF-8

Thanks so much, ChicagoGranny!

I suffer from reflux and what I have learned about the acid coming up into your throat, is that I never fall asleep on my right side. If I do and have been eating acidic food, the chances are high that I will have an attack. I fall asleep on my left side and I never get an attack. Even if I roll over to the right side during the night ( after 2 or 3 hours sleep) I won't have an attack. Maybe that is juts me, but it works!!
