dataq1,
no, the bipap I had before the M series auto was not an auto - was just the bipap plus/c-flex. I was using a regular Remstar auto (tank) before that. I really liked it fine but around 2-3 am every morning, my pressure started to rise to 20 and stay until time to get up and I had so much trouble exhaling at that pressure that the md did an new titration study and gave me the bipap. However with a setting of 19/13 on the Remstar Plus bipap, I had so much trouble the early part of the night that I was starting out on my old auto and then when the pressure went high enough to give me trouble exhaling, I would switch machines to the bipap for the rest of the night. I asked to try an auto bipap so I would not have to switch off machines in the night. I asked for the M series because I thought it would be smaller for the space on my nightstand. The Remstar Plus bipap that I had was VERY quiet. I love the breathing features of the auto bipap. I am just still having some problems with adjusting to the changing tones of this one I have now.

Maryb,
how are you doing with yours? Hope all is going well with your new M series.
Let us hear?

Ellie-
I am loving my auto M bipap! I'm not so crazy about the biflex and have it turned down to "1". For some reason when I have a higher biflex setting it occasionally happens that I can't exhale at all. Somewhere on this board I read that is called "breath stacking" or something like that.

But the ability of the auto bipap to have a lower pressure on the out breath is just great in my opinion. No longer, am I choking against that blast of air while trying to exhale. And my aerophagia is much better although I still have some. I'm working on getting off of my GERD (proton pump inhibitors) medicine now since the aerophagia is better.

Also, I sleep much better with the bipap than with my old S8 Auto. I tend to sleep straight through the night more frequently now. I'll wake up and find myself in the same position I fell asleep in and my shoulder or hip will be really sore. A small price to pay and I'm figuring out a way around that.

I still don't have EncorePro set up although I did get a new intel Mac with Parallels and Windows XP software so that I can run EncorePro. I just got the new computer set up last weekend. I'm still working on installing things on it. But soon I will be able to run EncorePro and then I can start optimizing my therapy even more. Once I get that software running I'm sure I'll be flooding this board with more questions.
