What are the mods for?
[quote="oldgearhead"]The nasal pillows should be tried. However, I would suggest you use some
ointment to lubricate the contact points inside the and outside the nares.
I use Bag Balm, but anything with lanolin oil is good. Others use KY Gel, Ary Gel, and etc.. Ypu will probably need to find something that is agreeable to
your skin.

Lanolin is OK, but use too much and the mask will slide right off

Thanks very much! I have had a rather productive few days. I have an itemized list of supplies coming from the DME and I have a new manual for the vpapIII on it's way from the nice folks at Resmed. They were very helpful when I called and I learned a lot. I am now on a search for "hypo allergenic filters". I continue to learn more about all things xpap, specifically bipap, daily. I will soon be ordering a new cushion/interface for the CL2 (which I did not even know the name of a few days ago and now I call it a CL2!) along with filters and perhaps a new humidifier. I have more questions to ask about humidifiers, I don't know anything about humidifiers, heck I am after 3 years just getting on a first name basis with my bi-pap and finding out I'm a "hosehead" . I am so grateful to have been directed here and once again, thank you all! For your help, encouragement, information, opinions and for listening. What a great group of folks!

We all learn as we go. Keep asking questions! The more you know the better you'll do with xpap. There is always someone here to answer questions.

RE: Cleaning the headgear of a CL 2
I have actually thrown mine into a load being washed on gentle in the washing machine and then hanging it up to dry. I have only done this twice in 9 months. The other times I have washed it, I have used the same unscented dish washing detergent that I use daily to clean the direct seal. I wash it by hand, blot out as much water as I can with a towel, and hang to dry. I have been known to put a fan blowing on the headgear to speed drying!
Here are some other postings on modifiying the CL 2:

clean your headgear?.....never....lol. If the garbage tie fixes do not work for you (mine always came undone or slipped) you can try fishing line. I use two brass snap swivels from my tackle box hooked on to either side of the pillows with fishing line tied between them and wrapped around the tube. (I should post a pic). Works great.

Hey, what can I say? I come from a long line of cleaners, scrubbers and disinfecters. They never have, and probably won't, accept the 5 second rule. I'm doing my best to break this legacy, and am doing TOO well at this attempt.
I tend to sweat a lot, and the smell of the body oil and sweat plus the idea that it comes from rapidly multiplying bacteria drives me nuts. So, I clean that headgear--AS WELL AS my headbands used for ear warmth in our similar climates, SleepyWI.
At any rate, I use the fishing line alone (posted originally by NightHawkEye) but would LOVE to see how you have used the swivel snaps. Here I have grown up in a huge sport fishing area, and I never thought of the snaps.
Great idea, and please--if you have any ideas about how to adjust the length easily, I'm interested. That is the most challenging part of using the fishing line fix, and the second is tying the knots.

Karen, I made a new post with a pic of my CL2 fix .... just for you!
TMI, Tim? As if we ALL do not sweat!! Except that NOW y'all may be washing the headgear because you are thinking about it. LOL
Seriously, THANK YOU for the wonderful photo of your usage of swivel snaps AND braided 20 lb. test line. I like the way you wrapped it around the 'extension' of the tube, too.
Nighthawkeye had a superb idea, Oldgearhead made it easily adjustable with the twist ties, and now we have a new aspect of the CL 2 direct seal or nasal pillows fix. Now I just need a way to adjust the fishing line with twist ties...hmmmmmm.

Thanks to all three of you.
