How many entries have been entered and where may they be viewed?
This should provide an insight into the interest in this "contest".

tomjax,

Out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to control what everyone can see, or try to dictate based on your personal preferences what everyone's should be?

In the grand scheme of things, by percentage the amount of posts on this forum dedicated to these "contests" is very low.

And there are definitely a few people who keep talking as though they really enjoy the contest.

Why not let 'em?

If these sorts of post really begin drowning out substantive conversation, I'm pretty certain the admins will step in and put a halt to it. But the fact is, there are only two of the threads I've seen with any regularity lately, this one and the Prizes one, and they're astoundingly easy to skip over while reading.

Live and let live, man. You won't like everything other people do, and no one will like everything you do. But we all ignore the occasional "infraction" by others in exchange for their courtesy in excusing our own.

Liam, apparently bumping the thread yet again.

Wow-
Just wanted to see the entries in the contests.
I do not know where they are posted.

I think a sticky with ONE broad category would indeed be interesting.
I can imagine all the very creative photos that would truly be entertaining.
It is the several different categories that may be counterproductive.

In no way am I trying to control what others see.
And why does my opinion be interpreted the way it is? Where is free speech and differing opinion in this equation?
Why ad hominens when a critical discourse on the issues is better?

Looks like my voting in the congeniality poll is indeed suffering.

Perhaps I overreacted.

I took this line:
This should provide an insight into the interest in this "contest".
...to be another condemnation of the whole concept of the contest, but perhaps I ascribed more to you than you intended. If so, I'm sorry.

Liam, who really needs to learn not to post so early in the morning.

Tom,

Come on, give us a break! This was likened to a "kindergarten project", remember? Any now you are expressing an interest in seeing the posts? Why? They are too "silly" for you, remember?

You love to throw out your barbs but the minute Liam or MikeMoran respond to you, you do a backstroke faster than an Olympic swimmer. Listen, just let it be, won't you? I wouldn't worry about losing the congeniality contest if I were you. I'd worry more about losing people's respect.

Relax, have some coffee and leave this alone.

Mary

And Liam..no, you did NOT overreact, please don't feel the need to apologize.

There is a very painless way of getting this thread to die. If none of us respond by adding posts, especially "bump" posts, it will quietly disappear into the realm of inactive posts.

I would like to ask everyone, especially myself, not to add any more posts to this thread.

John
John,
You have no right to tell "everyone" what to do. So you would like "everyone" not to add anymore posts to this thread...
If this thread annoys you, then don't click on it or read it. Some of us are diligently working on our contest entries, and we don't need crabby people to tell us what to do here.

Why, yes Cindy! I think you did! What a strange coincidence! I would never dream of inadvertently bumping a post myself.

Perhaps, perhaps not. But I find that life goes a lot more smoothly if I try to be quicker to apologize than I am to give offense.

I know on occasion I do jump too quickly on the offense side and say something that wasn't warranted, so if occasionally I jump in and apologize before I need to, it just balances out the world.

(Put another way, I try to be a martyr in at least equal proportion to being an a*****. )

Liam, zen master, seeking balance. And a grasshopper. They're tasty.

Whoops, got logged out again.

The previous was, of course, me.

Liam, preserving his post count and bumping the topic, in one fell swoop.
