New ResMed S8 AutoSet Vantage

Post by carlossm » Sat Jan 27, 2007 12:39 pm

Hi, I just bought a new new ResMed S8 AutoSet Vantage. I had been using the S3 for several years. When I first got the S3 the Dr. calibrated the presure. I spent 3 nights at the sleep lab and was diadnosed with severe OSA. I never went past the second stage, on top of that I was awaken close to 700 time a night. No wonder I allways felt tired. Anyway, now that I bought the S8, is there really nothing to calibrate? I've used it for 2 nights now and really like it(with the humidifier). I also ordered the software and the card reader.
Also, the S8 user's manual has two different menus, Standard and Detailed. Mine is set for the Standard Menu, how can I access the Detailed Menu? And finally, how can I chanve from CPAP to Autoset? Mine came preconfigured to AutoSet.

TIA

Carlos:

Fill out your profile! What is your titrated pressure? If the machine is set to autoset than you are already in auto, not cpap (straight) mode? Press and hold the DOWN and RIGHT keys simultaneously for 3 seconds to access the CLINICAL menu. There you can see what you have and make changes to and from the standard-detailed menu etc! Also I would discuss any changes with your Dr or RT in advance if you have one available! If you are in AUTO mode and the pressure range is set wide open (4-20) I would recommend setting/trying a pressure range of aprox + or - 2 cm's around your titrated pressure you got in your sleep study! In other words if your titrated pressure was say 10 then set your machine in autoset mode at a range of 8 to 12 cm's H2o!

Hope this helps,

Steve,

Hi Carlos,

I use the same machine as you and like it. Use the search feature and you'll find out just about anything here. If you can't, just keep posting questions and someone will have the answer for you.
