bed selection

Post by whatrdreamsmadeof » Sat Jan 27, 2007 4:51 pm

I went back to the good ole water bed with dual heaters, so I have no aches and pains, and can control the heat, as I like it cooler than my husband. I actuallly did this to relieve neck and back pain after a corepectomy of the c5,6,7 and I am a stomach sleeper which is terrible for neck pain. It really keeps my auto pap hose warm too.
Good Luck........Ellen

side sleeping

Post by sharon1965 » Sat Jan 27, 2007 5:57 pm

i'm usually a side sleeper (part of the night, anyway) and since beginning cpap 3 weeks ago, i've been sleeping on my back because of leaks in my mask when i turn sideways...so, i got the mirage swift after the rt telling me they are ideal for side sleeping...i certainly haven't found that to be the case, though...as soon as i turn the nasal pillows start to leak...any ideas? and is it not ok to sleep on my back even with the cpap?

Sharon, here is a link to help adjust the Swift for side sleepers.

Yes, it's okay to sleep on your back - if that is how you normally sleep. Otherwise, you will probably feel pain in your back or neck. Supposedly, you get more apneas on your back, but with cpap those should be controlled.

I'm a flippin' side sleeper also. One thing that helps me is to place a firm foam pillow between my knees. I find it keeps my lower back/hips in a more natural position, otherwise I end up with some discomfort.
