I have a Resmed S8 Elite. It is set for the Swift nasal pillow mask.
Can anyone tell me how much affect, if any, using a ComfortLite 2 nasal cushion has on the machine's leak rate readings and on the AHI, AI, HI readings?
Is there another Elite mask setting that would better fit the CL2's nasal cushion leak "rating" and the machine's Efficacy Data?
The Elite selections are:
Mirage
Mirage Full
Swift
Activa
Ultra
Standard
The Pressure vs Leakage Chart for the CL2 is difficult to read and interpret but the nasal cushion has somewhat lower figures than the nasal pillows and direct seals.
The Deadspace volume for the Pillows is between 19cc and 36cc
The Deadspace volume for the Cushion is between 27cc and 65 cc
The Deadspace volume for the Seals is between 14cc and 38cc
My set pressure is 8 cm H20 w/an EPR setting of 3 full time and Ramp set at 30. I'm thinking of turning the Ramp off.

My DME told me the same--that is for any non-ResMed mask, to use the "standard" setting. However, it is better to try to match up the vent-flow rate of the non-ResMed mask you are using to whatever Resmed mask has the closest vent-flow rate.
Check out this link: http://www.internetage.com/cpapinfo/leak-rates-1.html
which lists the vent-flow rate for a bunch of masks.

Many thanks, Bob. I asked another question in the thread where you shared your leak rate chart w/us.
Namely: Do the Respironics machines also subtract the leak bias? For instance, would the leak rate pretty much be the same using the CL2 w/a Resmed as w/a Respironics or would the leak rate be drastically different because the Respironics didn't subtract the leak bias?

Yet another question: how on earth does one evaluate therapy results if one usually uses a Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR and then is given a Respironics Auto w/C-Flex loaner for a 2 week auto titration to better "tweak" the correct pressure settings?
RemStar Auto w/C-Flex: 12/13 to 01/07
Avg AHI 6.9
Avg AI 2.7
Avg HI 4.3
Avg 90% Leak 77.4
Avg Leak 56.8
Avg Max Leak 123.4
Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR: 11/17 to 12/12
Avg AHI 10.1
Avg AI 0.3
Avg HI 9.6
Avg 95% Leak .44
Avg Leak .16
Avg Max Leak .58
The Respironics Auto w/C-Flex leak rate is at a great disadvantage as the first several days I had no humidifier, then shortly after obtaining a heated humidifier and 3-4 nights of decent sleep I dropped and broke the elbow on my mask and spent the rest of the nights w/the Auto on a mask w/cushion too small.
My sleep pulmo says I need an Auto, my DME says Medicare won't pay for an Auto. I was going to buy the RemStar Auto w/C-Flex myself but the sale of something has fallen thru and it is out of the question now to purchase myself despite if we switched my script to the Resmed S8 Vantage we would not need to buy the humidifier which I would if I go w/the RemStar. I've checked the prices at cpap.com and the RemStar w/humidifier would still be cheaper for me than just the Resmed Vantage w/o humidifier.
Would my AHI have been lower with the Auto if I had had my regular mask I use w/the Elite? How badly could the leak rate have affected my Auto AHIs?
