DME not all bad?
DME not all bad?
I had a very positive experience with me DME today. I stopped in to get a new mask as it was my "new mask" time according to my insurance (every three months). I was bemoaning to my RT the fact that my machine did not collect any meaninglful data and I was unsure whether or not my theraoy was working beyond stopping my snoring. Without batting an eye, she loaned me free of charge an Autoset Vantage for two weeks to collect data with!
She also told me that if I wished to purchase a machine on my own that she would try to meet any internet price. This is a little turnabout from the long thread I started the other day!
Just don't get me started on my sleep doc though....lol

My local bloke is also very good. I offered him the sale of my S8 Autoset if he met the online price and he gagged at that but apart from that, he's been great. I bought the Autoscan software and my Swift II mask off him and he's been very helpful, particularly with the Autoscan.

Maybe you had such good luck with her because you brought your little bear cub along to the appointment? I know that would make me very agreeable. TOO CUTE!!!!!!!!! How old is he?sleepyWI wrote:Without batting an eye, she loaned me free of charge an Autoset Vantage for two weeks to collect data with!

Well, thanks to my wonderful medical insurance, I no longer have a local DME, none of the local suppliers will do business with them anymore. I have to call some place halfway across the country and order supplies, and if I want to try something new, it's pretty much hit or miss. To add insult to injury, so to speak, the first $250 is out-of-pocket, so if I get something and it doesn't work out, it's my dime.

I also have Cigna, and here (Florida) they require us to go through a company caled Edgepark, up somewhere in Ohio. We used to be able to use Apria locally, then Vital Aire, also locally, but their offices here and Cigna no longer do business. I have Cigna, and they require me to go through apria, who requres me to talk to their "cigna group" halfway across the country.... I just call the local branch
Monthly premiums keep going up, coverage amounts keep going down. They try and put this spin on it like that's a good thing, that we're "taking more control of our own healthcare". Ha. Ha.
I hope my S7 holds out until I find another insurer, it may be a matter of years. Either that or I go to the V.A., because I don't see the company benefits getting any better.
