DSM,

Looks like a butch of paper clips tied together that sticks up in you nose.
When I had my cochlear implant surgery I had to stay off from CPAP and I was using nasal tape strips from Walgreen to help me just to get by during the three weeks period.

but I had to delete link it was too large & messed up the page.

It was to a device called a 'Breathe with EEZ'

Tks re the EEZ thing.

There are so many times I find myself pulling my nostrils open just to get a nice airflow - the smallest pulling them open seems to allow a torrent of air in.

Those clips look a bit uncomfortable but seemed designed just for noses like mine.

It can be very frustrating feeling that one's nose is in the way of the air that needs to come through into it.

If I use a nasal pillows mask - the air gets in no matter how congested I felt, but the mask make a real noise - wife complains & to top it off next morning I find myself with a mouth/nose full of muck.

But if it weren't for the mask noise factor I would at least try to switch between them regularly (also would use a VPAP III S/T as I really like them but for the 2-tone hum from the fan that keeps wife awake - I am deaf enough re high frequency noise not to care )

I may follow up on Snorks approach & at least speak to my respiratory specialist about what can be done.

Thanks for all the input re this

Snork,

Thanks - I will request a doctor's referral to an ENT specialist & take it up with them.

Your point is a very good one.

Thanks

Do you still use CPAP now that you have had the uvula removed? If so what is your treated AHI with the uvula removed? Have you had any problem with more air escaping though your month when on CPAP (or do you mouth tape?)

jskinner,
Here's her thread about the surgery:

Bear in mind, this surgery has a poor long term success rate. The "cure" is only temporary for many who undergo this procedure.

In regards to the weight loss related post, I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea last June. This sleep study was part of a pre-surgical workup for bariatric surgery. I had surgery in Aug. and have lost 70lbs since. The doctor had me do an auto titration at home in Dec. and it showed that my pressure needed to move up from 10cm to 12cm! I was so hoping it would've gone the other way but he said my apneas were too severe @ 58 to expect it to just go away. Oh well, in any event, he would like to repeat the overnight sleep study to get a better idea of where I stand as I continue to lose more weight. So it seems in my case, the weight loss made no difference to my OSA, just a huge difference to my general quality of life.
Good luck!
