lung congestion
lung congestion
No complaints about sleeping! For the last 3 nights I have gotten 7 hours of interrupted sleep! Perfect. The problem is that I have asthma and COPD and for the last week, I wake up in the mornings so congested that I am having to use my updraft machine and I normally don't have to use that except during the pollen season from April to June. Any suggestions?
lung congestion
I have been on my cpap a little over two weeks now and experienced some weird feelings in my lungs when i first started, like irritation of the lungs, not really congestion i have hay fever and sinus problems from time to time and right now i've got a lousy cold i'm wondering if my cpap has something to do with this, i have not been real diligent about cleaning everything only cleaned up one time so far. by reading the posts some people don't clean that often either others clean daily (i'm lazy) will not cleaning that often make a person sick ? comments please

Well, normally not cleaning up for 2 weeks shouldn't make you sick, but if you already have problems, and each night 're-breathe' whatever deposits remain from the previous night, you could be stuck in a vicious cycle. Try cleaning everything (hose included) very well for a few nights in a row to test your equipment, and see how it goes. Do you take antihistamines, or anything else? Some people use a saline nasal rinse before bed to clear passages as well.

Mimmie,
I do not know about your specific case, but I do know someone that said they got an asthma attack when they used the heated humidifier.
I wish you the best.

If your CPAP is on the floor, put something under it like a board or clean towel. Last summer I placed my unit on a motel carpet and got a lung full of whatever stainproofing or cleaning chemicals were on it and was congested for two days - if you're sensitive to such stuff it may be a source of pollen and dust too.
If your Pro-2 humidity is set at 3 or above, try a night at one setting lower. Its counter-intuitive but I found that, for me, higher humidity at times seemed be related to chest congestion and discomfort. (I'd had already checked out potential scarier medical discomfort sources).
Good luck
Chris
