Resmed H5i humidifier - lid detached

Post by Resmeduser55 » Mon Mar 05, 2018 10:10 pm

I have used a Resmed S9 unit regularly - with the H5i humidifier - for 3+ years. I have been impressed with its quality and construction, and have had no mechanical problems...until today.
While I was packing for a trip the humidifier lid unexpectedly detached from the body and I cannot reattach it.
Nothing looks broken, the hinge just popped apart. I must have unintentionally opened it too far.
Now looking at the hinge halves, it is clearly designed to snap together, but I have tried to do so unsuccessfully for an hour!
I am mechanically minded and can always figure these things out, but this *@$#! hinge design has me stumped!
Ironically, all the online advertisements for replacement lids say that it is easily attached! ARRRGGGHHH!
I have searched the user manual and browsed for a solution with no luck.
Can anyone tell me what obvious step I'm missing?
Please help!!

Not much to go on, I use Remstar, Either it's really simple, or they have very poor product support. looks like something you store food in the fridge in. Jim

It's designed to pop off if it gets pushed back too far, instead of breaking. you just need to align the pins with the slots on the lid, at a bit of an angle (not straight up) and push the lid back on... pushing foward ... it should snap back on, and work normally.

Thanks for the quick response.
I have tried just what you've suggested - tilting the lid back at an angle, aligning the tabs and slots of the hinges, then pushing the lid in, but no luck.
I've tried this probably 30 times in slightly different ways, different angles.
No luck, so I cannot use the machine.

Take it in to any local DME they will attach it in about 10 seconds.
