Just got back from DME

Post by lilly747 » Thu Feb 22, 2018 7:05 pm

I did not think I would ever hear myself say this, "I love my DME." They told me right up front I could do anything i wanted with the settings: they can't but I can. So all my worry over what to do about the bad settings was for nothing. The EPAP is set at 4 and the IPAP is at 16 with a PS of 4. I started laughing.

Also I got a new mask, the "F&P Brevida' Nasal Pillows Mask. Is anyone here using this mask or tried it? It is sooo soft on the nose. Did not think I would ever replace my Fx.
I sure hope I still like it in the morning, :D

Thanks to everyone for listing to my whining, and being supportive...

What whining? Congrats on getting your new equipment and having a DME you can work with. I tried the Brevida but felt like Goldilocks. The smaller cushion was too small and the larger cushion was too large. Where's the one that's just right?

All that worry over nothing.
Now you can sit back and just enjoy your new stuff.

I have tried the Brevida. It's a nice little mask. I just prefer less on my face and that pillow going around my nose wasn't horrible but it was there and more than what I prefer.
Also with my pressure settings the pillow would blow up like a balloon on inhale and deflate upon exhale and it was a bit annoying.
With your difference of only 1 cm between inhale and exhale it may not be quite so noticeable to you.

You know how it is with masks.....one man's treasure is another man's trash.

I tried the Brevida. I loved the diffuser, it made the mask so quiet. I also have a terrible time with back straps sliding up...the Brevida stayed on. I agree that it is very soft on the nose.

I took it back today, though, because I had terrible leaks. And (possibly because I had nasal surgery in August?) my nose is extremely sensitive. With the Brevida when I took the mask off in the morning, the tip of my nose hurt. :( I was very disappointed, because I really wanted this mask to work!

May you have great success with it! :D

Goldilocks, only found the two because the three bears hid the one Mama Bear liked, because it was just right for her, and they had been broken into before. Since then the Bear Family has ordered Goldilocks off the internet, and had ADT installed! Jim

I use the Brevida, switching back and forth with the Dreamwear gel pillows. I love it and have No leaks with it. It’s soft, flexible and never irritates anywhere. Even though it seems stable ( don’t have to readjust during the night) it tangles my hair with whatever sliding it does do. Not a deal breaker but am experimenting with trying the Pilairo adjustable head strap with it tonight - just because I’m curious.

I've has no issues with my DME, but after reading all the stories here, I am always expecting the worst and pretty happy when I do not get it. Or maybe a bit disappointed as I am well girded and ready for battle, only to have to slink in retreat because there is no battle to be had.
