Weird question - please help!
In the last 3 days I have noticed that my machine will do these period bursts of air. I dont know how else to describe it. Its like a puff of air suddenly goes up my nose. Its driving me crazy and I cant sleep. I have a Dreamstation. Anyone had this or know what it could be?? (the pressure range is set from 5-10)

Re: Weird question - please help!
When is it happening that you notice it so much.
I wonder if maybe you are feeling the little pressure pulses that the Respironics machines use to distinguish between open airway reductions in air flow or airway tissue collapses causing reductions in air flow.
Do you have SleepyHead so you can zoom in on the pressure graph when whatever this might be is happening?

I wish I could help. My Dreamstation also sends out test pulses, but I have never been aware of them.DaisySmith wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 3:32 pmI attached the data via Imagur above...anybody...? anybody....?

Re: Weird question - please help!
I have posted about the Respironics system before and find only one person with my experience. Here’s my experience:
If you exhale against the air flow the system will respond by reducing the air pressure; and it does this without a doubt. It will do this if you set Afex or Bi-flex at any level. I have used both APAPs and BiPAPs. The variance in pressure is most pronounced with a BiPAP. The reason why the system is sometimes giving you air before you need it or reduce the air when you do need is because the software is getting mixed up and is unable to respond. The system is designed to be proactive. It keeps increasing the air or reducing it while checking the sensor information to see if you are resisting. I have found that when I have confused my machine beyond its limits, its time to shut it off. Leave it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on. Take deep breaths when turned back on. It will adjust quickly to your breathing and as you fall asleep it will adjust.
I have three Respironics. One APAP model 560, one 760 (BiPAP), and one Dream-Station bipap. They all work the same with BiPAP being more sensitive.

Re: Weird question - please help!
Im just wondering why its doing it now. It didnt do it before. It does it in the middle of the night and even in the morning. I woke up at 3:30, tried to go back to sleep ar 5:00 and I couldnt because it kept puffing air up my nose. I turned it off at 3:30 and it had all that time to re-calibrate but was worse than ever at 5:00...Pesser wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 6:30 pmI have posted about the Respironics system before and find only one person with my experience. Re: Weird question - please help!
I would guess that you experienced an abrupt change in your breathing while sleeping, leaving the unit at a lost as to what your inhale and exhale timing is. I think that this happens when the unit is changing its pressure. This happens to me when I wake just before a bio break. I've notice that my breathing changes just before I wake up. The unit remains at the immediately preceding breathing pattern, while I need more air. If you force the unit to give more air by sucking on the unit, the software needs time to adjust. Turning it off forces a softare reboot. I have experienced this even without a flex setting. If you want you can easily test this in a nap. Hyperventilate after 15 minutes. You'll see it react.DaisySmith wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 8:02 pmIm just wondering why its doing it now. It didnt do it before. It does it in the middle of the night and even in the morning. Re: Weird question - please help!
Try setting the ramp at a little below your minimum pressure. When this happens hit the ramp button.
