There is a huge problem with insurance here.
The insurance is an HMO...not regular Medicare and not a regular Medicare Advantage plan.
HMO is a whole other animal and they can and will force people to accept "cheaper" because that is what they do. They can dictate brand and model and not a damn thing we can do about it unless we can afford to tell them where to go and buy the machine ourselves out of pocket and that isn't an option with the OP here. Funds just not there.

I will remember that the next time I'm congested. Usually vaping CBD Oil will open my sinuses up, but then when it wears off in the middle of sleep it becomes a problem.Pugsy wrote:If you are only using a setting of 1 on the humidifier for a PR S1 50 series machine... that's very minimal added moisture. Next to none really.
Google "cpap rhinitis".
It might be that the air is more recently drier in your home and the nasal mucosa are dried out and often they will react by swelling and causing nasal congestion.
You might want cooler drier but your nasal mucosa may not. They might want more moisture.
Unfortunately, Pugsy is not only right about my HMO, but now that I know there is a ResMart BiPAP machine I'll be stuck with it. It's better than nothing. I really want to be able to see my sleep statistics regarding my sleep states. What is most important to me though is being able to plug a new machine into my UPS system so when the summer storms come, my BiPAP machine will still go.D.H. wrote:I agree, get a known brand. The major brands are Respironics and ResMed (the "real" ResMed , that is). There are also other brands such as Fisher and Paykel. I used an F&P CPAP from 1999 until 2008.
