Call for ResMed release cycle speculation

Post by JimW159 » Sun Jan 14, 2018 4:27 pm

Most technology-centric manufacturers seem to release new products following a somewhat predictable cycle. ResMed seems to be following a less predicable path. The S8 was announced in September 2005, the s9 in April 2011 - a span of 5 years 7 months, and the AS10 saw just three years eleven months lapse before its introduction in August 2014. Since then the AirMini has come out in April 2017 (two years 8 months following the AS10). It seems development lag is getting shorter and shorter all the time. It is now 3 years 5 months since the AS10. The last two releases have seen an appreciable shrinking of the form factor - especially the AirMini - and somewhat greater sophistication in performance except for various brick machines that have made their way into the mix - and remote monitoring has become standard practice. It seems in recent years Respironics has followed ResMed's lead in many ways and thus far, has been a few months behind - so, where do we go from here - what's next and when?

I recognize the problems that are nearly inevitable for early adopters,
and generally choose to wait for the "post-beta" production.
This strategy has served me well.
Why pay full price to be a guinea pig.
