I Wonder.......

If the flu should strike ..do you think wearing CPAP would help during the day? Sounds like hard breathing is a symptom.

I can't see how it would hurt, more O2 has got to be good. Better still wear it before you are stricken, FF mask both input holes covered and filtered air, if you use added O2 even better. You will also be home, away from others spreading the germs and viruses. Win, Win. and Win! Jim

I think it's a YMMV type of thing. I just got over the flu and I was coughing so much I couldn't keep the mask on my face, and I use the Airfit P10. Having a difficult/hard time breathing can also be pneumonia. You have to know yourself well enough to know if it's time to go to the ER or you can wait it out at home. I hope you haven't caught the bug; this one is nasty.

I got it too. Haven't stopped coughing since right after Thanksgiving!

We got sick and the doctor tested us for flu, but said we did not have it. I read about the test they use. It has about 50% accuracy and only tests for one kind of flu. Another test might have given a different result if we had the "right" kind of flu. I know we did not have just a cold. We have been sick for more than a month and continue, just with milder symptoms. We definitely stayed home, and did not spread it because we felt too sick to go anywhere - other than to see the doctor.

Using cpap at night proved to be quite difficult. I would certainly use it for naps during the day if possible. I know we did a fair amount of mouth breathing! Clean air would be good to avoid dust and other irritants. Probably can't hurt to use it. Keep those cushions washed and clean though. I had to change mine in the middle of the night.

Chicken soup tasted good.

I was sick from Halloween until Thanksgiving, with a mild residual cough
until about New Years. (Artifact of my bronchitis)
During the worst of it, (about a week or so)
I spent lots of extra time sleeping--up to 18 hours a day, on my cpap, of course.
