Changing sleepyhead password?

I picked a really really long one.

I searched the forum and can't see that this has been covered.

Is it possible to change the password? I've looked around and can't seem to find an answer.

If it is obvious, I"m blaming sleep deprivation. It took me two weeks of horrendous sleep to finally realize that somehow my humidifer had been set to "OFF" position. Can they reset in a power outage? Nothing else seemed to change.

On my version its at File -> Edit Profile, but since I've never used it I don't know if the option disappears when you have a password.

No they can't, I use Encore Basic, You people have passed my machine bye... Jim

I am not a Sleepyhead convert, maybe in 20 more years, I still have two "TANKS" to wear out.

However without a password, the NSA can read my sleep data. I take that as a good thing, if Medicare wants to see my compliance, they can just ask Snowden.

Go to SleepyHeadData-testing in your documents, open the Profiles folder, then the name folder.
See the file "Profile.xml"
right click and choose "Edit" with NotePad++ or NotePad
Find the line:
<Password type="QString">fe05bcdcdc4928012781a5f1a2a77cbb5398e106</Password> (The enclosed string will differ depending on password)
and delete the entire line, including the <>'s.
Save the edited file. You're done.

If the above is a little too daunting, simply open Profiles/name/ folders, right click on the Profile.xml file and delete it. This will erase all the data that has been entered into the file including the password, country, time zone, personal info, etc, which can be reentered with File/Edit Profile after the file is opened.

Just to be safe, you should save a copy of the profile before making any changes.

A really simple process would be to create a new profile (ignoring the password provision). Fill out all the details you really need and populate the records by using the process outlined in detail in the last few responses to this thread viewtopic/t158051/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1 ... e#p1214201 (the next to last response specifically)

I don't think that is as simple as "simply" deleting one line of the Profile.xml file or deleting the whole Profile.xml file and reentering a bit of info, but then...

I was perhaps on the same track but was influenced by my particular situation where I have more than one profile in SH reflecting differing environments and operational considerations. If I were to delete the XML file as stated, I would be deleting ALL the user profiles referenced in it and, thus, all the user profiles in SH. This protects all the other profiles in SH that may represent other users and/or other environments that one doesn't have ownership of or that one wants just to not change.

Not so, Jim. Each named profile has its own unique Profile.xml file.

Same file name (Profile.xml), four different paths. Not necessarily the same file. Each may contain different information. Try it yourself. Apply a password to one profile name and see if it carries to the other three. BTW, the contents of each Profile.xml can be read with a browser.

I didn't say modify all instances of Profile.xml. I said,

Go to SleepyHeadData-testing in your documents, open the Profiles folder, then the name folder.
See the file "Profile.xml"

and modify or delete that specific one. Here, the "name folder" implies the one with the password, if there is more than one named folder.
