CPAP and Increased Anxiety

Post by Spartan1234 » Thu Dec 28, 2017 2:47 pm

Hello CPAP users:

I am a new CPAP User (started about a week ago). I have noticed increased anxiety during the day. I currently take medication for both anxiety and depression - the anxiety has not been an issue for the past few years but has started the exact day after the first CPAP treatment.

I imagine it's one of the following:
1. Increased energy resulting from a good nights sleep
2. Body chemistry resulting from increased oxygen flow

Either way, I'm trying to determine whether anyone has had any similar experiences and whether there was any resolution, or if it just went away after time.

The good news is that I'm not falling asleep during the day so the treatment is definitely working!

Thanks for your responses.

I don't think it is uncommon to have anxiety when starting a new medical treatment like CPAP. Many people worry about sleeping with a mask on their face.

Yes, but you should go over your meds with your sleep MD to see if either might conflict in some way with Cpap, OSA or just timing of doses. Some readjustment might be in order.
