Help

Post by Lissa » Sat Dec 23, 2017 3:45 pm

Hello,
I am so happy I found this site. I have recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea I have been told my airways were extremely small and that is why I have sleep apnea. I am not in the best of shape but i am not overweight either. I would really like to have more energy so I can take better care of myself. I have been using my machine for 3 nights. I really thought I would start feeling better right away. I am still tired, still needing to take naps, and overall not feeling better. I really want to feel a difference. My machine has the feature that lets you check you are wearing the mask correctly. I have checked and I am. I am using a Phillips dream station with a air fit full face mask. Please tell me there is hope. I have been sleep deprived for so long and I just want to have some energy. Please share with me if there is something I am doing wrong or your experience with me. I am feeling discouraged.

Everyone is different. You want to download sleepyhead software to view your data and share it here to make sure you're getting effective therapy.

For me I've gone from extremely exhausted and in a fog to just really tired. One night I had rainout and couldn't use mask for most of the night and could definitely tell the difference in the morning.

Stick with it

Welcome to the forum. It will help if we knew what machine you were using, what pressure your machine is set at, and what your diagnosis was. Go to this web site and download sleepyhead software: https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead

Hello and welcome. I see you are getting pointers on assuring that your settings are doing the job they are supposed to do. Always a good first step. Your body has been through a lot when your sleep apnea was untreated. As with any recovery, time and plenty of rest and supportive nutrition help the recovery process along. That's while using the treatment faithfully. While some might experience a night-and-day difference, many of us found it a more gradual awakening. Be kind to and patient with yourself while you go through this time. You have every eason to be optimistic about how you will feel down the road. You're in a good place to get support if you run into any bumps along the way.

Hang in there, it takes a while to get used to the CPAP before you sleep well with it. I would say you are doing well to get this far so soon.
