cleaning inside cpap machine

Post by kingwillard » Thu Dec 21, 2017 6:05 pm

I am getting my cpap machine ready to use agin. But when I was setting it up I noticed some bug residue in and around the tube that outputs the air into the water chamber. It's an old Fisher & Paykel unit and it's definitely out of warranty. Can I clean the inside of the machine or can you direct me to someone who can? I was thinking about doing it myself but am uncertain about damaging it. Thanks.

If it's an old F&P machine you are probably better off dumping it and picking up a newer model...there are many good deals on Craigslist. If you want a CPAP repair , you could try http://acbio.com/cpap-repair/ but it may cost you more than the machine is worth. Why did you stop using the machine in the first place????

Above all else do NOT be talked into using 'So Clean' which is a scam, worthless, does nothing at all to 'clean' your machine and costs way too much.

You might try a drop of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab (Q-Tip). Be careful not to get any alcohol on the electronics or fan motor.

(We can help you find a machine at a decent price.)

Actually, *washing* electronics with alcohol is a standard way of removing any water.

But if it gets in the bearings it will remove any lubrication...
