ResMed S9 Cpap
ResMed S9 Cpap
I just started using my cpap and last night I put everything on and pushed the button and I noticed the red light over the water was staying on. I laid down and tried to relax but found it hard to breathe like not enough air was coming out? Am I doing something wrong?
Re: ResMed S9 Cpap
What is/was your starting pressure setting?
Using the ramp?
What mask are you using?

What mask are you using?

4, and I think its 15. I'm using the nasal mask.
Re: ResMed S9 Cpap
I think the light doesn't change until things have warmed up in the water chamber quite a bit depending on your setting for humidity. I wouldn't worry about the light.
Are you using the ramp...so that it starts at 4 cm and after a period of time goes to 15?
Or are you using the auto adjusting machine where it starts at 4 and can go to 15 only as needed?
It would really help if we knew exactly which model machine you are using. Lots of various S9 models out there.
Anyway...most likely it's the 4 cm starting pressure that is the culprit for not enough air coming out feeling. Quite common really. We won't suffocate at 4 cm but it sure feels that way. Simply not enough air moving to be comfortable for a lot of people.
If using the ramp...turn it off or set it to a higher starting pressure that is more comfortable...give 6 cm a try.
If using the auto adjusting pressure mode (apap) and it starts at the 4 cm minimum...try changing it to 6 and see if that is more comfortable.
Nasal mask??? Nasal cushion (over the nose) or nasal pillows?? If nasal pillows...try next size larger in the nasal pillow.
How to change the pressure and/or turn ramp off is explained in this manual.

Its the ResMed S9 Vpap S. Bilevel w/ H5I. I know the ramp is at 15, the humidity is at 3 and the level is 4.

Please fill out your equipment profile - https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=prof ... pment_infoTcreed08 wrote:I just started using my cpap and last night I put everything on and pushed the button and I noticed the red light over the water was staying on. What is at level 4...the hose air temp?Tcreed08 wrote:Its the ResMed S9 Vpap S. Bilevel w/ H5I. I know the ramp is at 15, the humidity is at 3 and the level is 4.
What are the other settings for pressure? Do you know how to find all the settings in the setup menu area?
Ramp at 15 probably is just 15 minutes that it takes to get to whatever the starting pressures are.
If you are using the ramp then the starting pressure is probably too low...I would turn ramp off as a starting point to see if it helps or not.
If no help...then tell us exactly what the pressure settings are...minimum EPAP and max IPAP and PS (pressure support which is the difference between EPAP and IPAP) and then maybe we can offer some more definitive ideas.
