I want to take the advice given to me to start using SleepyHead so that I have more data, which may improve my strained relations with my doctor. It seems the first step to getting starting is getting an SD card, and a way to read it.
My AirSense 10 did not come with an SD card. The DME is telling me to just wait til I get my new Bipap (AirCurve), at which time they will give me a card. I told them no - I want to collect data now so that I know how switching to Bipap changed things. I'm not sure they are going to give me one.
Questions:
1. Where can I get an SD card on my own? I am not sure if there are right ones and wrong ones.
2. I see the SD slot in my machine is smaller than the slot on my PC and my laptop. It does not look like they are compatible with one another. How then can I transfer the data? Do I need to buy something?
3. If I do have a laptop burried away in my house somewhere that does happen to have a slot that matches the SD card slot of my machine, is it possible to copy the data onto that laptop, then transfer it with a USB flash drive to my PC, and then analyze it with SleepyHead on my PC?
Thanks,
David

SD card are available at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, e-bay...almost anywhere. You do not need a high capacity card 2mb 4mb 8mb will work fine. I've seen them on e-bay for $5. The SD slot on your computer should be standard....the same as your CPAP.

OMG, I am a genius. I was looking at the wrong slot. There are two slots on my CPAP that look like an SD card goes there. The other one does in fact look more like my PC's slot. Problem likely solved =).
Lol, and they gave me an MS in engineering...
I will go buy a card ASAP then.

You are going to love sleepyhead. Seeing the raw data (flow rate and pressure for every breath) is very enlightening. See the three links below for help.metallikat36 wrote:OMG, I am a genius. Does my doctor currently see the same level of detailed data that I soon will in SleepyHead? Or is he only ever seeing limited summary data like on my online Resmed AirView portal?

Excellent question.metallikat36 wrote:Does my doctor currently see the same level of detailed data that I soon will in SleepyHead? Or is he only ever seeing limited summary data like on my online Resmed AirView portal?
In my experience (myself, friends, and this forum), most doctors will see only summary statistics. Often they see a few numbers reported to them by the DME. I was unable to get my doctor to look at any data. Your doctor appears to be more involved than most.
As you will soon learn, it is important to see your own data, understand it, and make changes. For example, the machine flags breathing events but it doesn't know if you are actually asleep. So many events are flagged when you are trying to sleep. These events need to be ignored.

According to a sleep doctor, the resmed doesn't transmit all the highrate detail data that's on the card, (breathing waveform and mask pressure.) just the detail and summary data.metallikat36 wrote:Does my doctor currently see the same level of detailed data that I soon will in SleepyHead?
