Best FFM for man with beard?

Post by joeljjk11 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 7:16 am

Hi everyone,

So I have been using nasal pillows for a while now but I really prefer a FFM because it is more comfortable and I feel like I can breathe better at night. I have a beard and was wondering if there is a FFM that works well for men with beards. It is very popular and common for men to have beards so I figured a company has to have to designed one. I have been using an Airfit F10 the past few days because I have been sick but it tends to leak around my nose and blows air into my eyes, which is really bad because my eyes are already dry to begin with. If there is not a good FFM for beards, can someone recommend one that does not leak around the bridge of the nose? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joel

Hi Joel,
I don't have a beard but at times it gets pretty long, I use the Resmed Mirage Quattro and it has an adjustment on the forehead that can be adjusted putting more or less seal around the top of the nose. I really like that option. Its really a personal preference on which FFM is the best. Good luck and try 'em out...

I used the Mirage Quattro until the Resmed Airfit F20 came out. This mask is the best. All you have to do is make an appointment with your DME and get fitted.

Doesn't look like you have a beard

All the full face masks can be worn with beards but the beard creates additional challenges that will have to be over come.
If the bridge of the nose is an issue I would suggest looking at one of the hybrid type masks that don't have anything over the bridge of the nose.

Have you looked at or tried the Respironics Amara View or the Innomed/Respcare Hybrid?

I started with the Resmed F10, but the silicon didn't work with my beard. I got the Airtouch F20, with the foam cushion, and it seals very well.
