Res Med Liberty
Res Med Liberty
Husband now into cpap. Cannot find the right mask. Went with res med Liberty--a very old mask. Said it felt the best of what he tried on. Have not seen any comments about this mask. Anybody?

Re: Res Med Liberty
I suggest you go to the product page for the Liberty at cpap.com, and read the customer reviews.
There are over 160 reviews, both positive and negative.

It's basically the only mask my wife has been successful with. It works great for her.

Okay..first of all full face masks don't stop mouth breathing and it's the mouth breathing that causes the dry mouth and the gums sticking to the teeth.AMESS wrote: Even though its a FF mask he breathes through his mouth. Gums stuck to teeth this morning.
Full face masks don't/can't/won't necessarily fix dry mouth even if someone is using maximum humidity.
What using a full face mask means is that when you mouth breathe that the therapy air pressure isn't lost out the circuit so the airway is held open by the pressure within the circuit.
CPAP humidifiers simply can't crank out enough moisture to rehydrate the mucosa in the mouth (oral cavity)...humidifiers were designed to help with moisture in the nasal cavity which is much smaller area to try to keep hydrated.
Now sometimes when the dry mouth is minimal the moisture offered by the cpap machine is enough but sometimes it's not.
When it's not you have to figure out the best way to get some moisture back into the mouth and that's where the various products for dry mouth come into play.
Why do some people get more dry mouth than others? Who knows..meds sometimes..drew the short straw in terms of luck..maybe needs to drink more water. This happens to people not even on cpap.
The most effective way to avoid dry mouth....avoid/limit mouth breathing.
Keep the lips closed.
Yeah, I know easier said than done for a lot of people.
