Wisdom of the Crowd Requested

Post by RobertS975 » Mon Nov 27, 2017 8:24 am

I have been on CPAP therapy since February 2014, generally doing excellent with a P10. I have two ResMed S9 elites, one for travel. I would like to acquire another machine to be based at a newly purchased Florida property. I am assuming that the ResMed AutoSense 10 is the machine to try for.

What components are interchangeable between the S9 and the newer machine? I assume the P10 is ok? What about the F10 full mask I have for the exceedingly rare stuffed nose nights? Are the S9 climateline tubes interchangeable?

Advice is most appreciated.

Morning Robert,
The filter is about the only thing in common, heated hoses are different, I don't know about the non-heat hose though.
Water tubs are different, all in all a good machine. I use the S10 home base and my S9 for travel...hope this helps.

Love ResMed machines, despite my ambiguous feelings about the company itself.

Masks and filters are interchangeable between the S9 and the AirSense models.
Non heated hoses...either regular or slimline are interchangeable.
That's pretty much it in terms of what you use on the S9 that could be used on the AirSense 10.

The Climateline heated hose on the S9 will NOT work on the AirSense 10 model. Different power connections and plug in thingy at the machine level.
Water chambers are totally different.

The lists you have received are totally correct. Thus, I can add nothing other than an option that gives complete interchangeability.
I have a ResMed S9 Elite with about 2200 hours on it that you can have at a bargain price. It includes: SD Card, travel bag, heated tubing, slimline tube, washable tub (for the included H5i humidifier), power supply, and a few filters.
The unit is in excellent condition having been used sparingly between my first S8 elite and an S9 AutoSet. With this, you would be able to maintain full compatibility with both of your other units and thus, continuity of supplies and support. All I am asking is $50 plus shipping. If your Florida property is any where in the Tampa to Naples area, getting together to transfer it in person would be relatively simple. I live in Tarpon Springs (a few miles north of Clearwater) and get to Sarasota and Naples fairly often. If interested, let me know.

Jnk: totally agree!
Most models in the Airsense 10 line follow the naming of the S9 series,
except the Airsense 10 "CPAP" is equivalent to the S9 Escape.
Yes, those d-bags still make a brick (of sorts).

Avoid the Resmed AirStart series of machines. I think Pugsy refers to them as ‘half-assed bricks’.

Actually it is the AirSense 10 CPAP that I call a half assed brick because it only offers some very basic generic AHI data and 95% leak numbers along with hours of use.

The AirStart anything models I call bricks total because they offer zero data beyond hours of use...plus if a person wanted a heated hose the AirStart models aren't compatible with any of the ResMed heated hoses.

Airstart=budget.
Yes, you get what you pay for.
Get the best you can afford--consider it a priority, because it is your health and your sleep.
Cheaper machines are generally noisier, and lack many features you may actually NEED.
