DME and Insurance

Post by heyslick » Wed Nov 01, 2017 1:55 pm

I was suppose to get my airsense for her this week, looks like it will be next Tuesday. So i asked how much my part of the rental would be, and he said didn't know. I told him i needed to know because if it wasn't going to be cheaper on me i would just buy one outright, the DME said he will find out tomorrow. I called my insurance to see what the rental might be, I love this, they told me they can do a purchase instead of a rental, the lady said you pay more for rental.I called the DME back and told them what the insurance said that they would bill the insurance for a purchase. He tried to tell me oh that is what we do if we can...wrong. I told him that is not what i was told, i was told i had to rent for 12 months, and then the insurance will buy it. At least now i won't have to deal with them after i get my cpap next week, at least i don't think i will.

You have to take every thing your DME says with a grain of salt. Their primary interest is to maximize their profits.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, believe anything a DME tells you without fact checking. They invented lying before the current White House occupant was even a blip on the political radar.

Good for you for checking on them and calling their bluff.

Now that you know what lying snakes they are, make sure you get the machine you want and don't accept it until you've checked the run hours and verify that it's brand new out of the box. Because that's the next trick in the DME game.

Well because of this group i knew what to look for. I already told them what cpap i wanted and that i know how to check if it was new or not, also the blower hours. I am very thankful for this group.
