Yeah....Well, I thought I made it perfectly clear that I was talking about Respironics here. That was a Respironics manual page I showed everybody.Goofproof wrote: 1. Not all machines work that way.
2. If you have a APAP, and the pressure is set wide treatment won't take effect fast enough to give full treatment. Jim
And as to number 2...if the minimum pressure is too low and range too wide and the machine can't get to where it needs to be it doesn't matter if ramp is used or not. That happens anytime the minimum is too low no matter if ramp is or isn't used. That's how come I used a 10 min and 20 max when I was using Respironics without ramp BTW.
All I did was point out that with Respironics machines that ramp doesn't prevent the machine from responding when in apap mode.
So saying that ramp doesn't allow for treatment when in auto mode isn't true.
People are saying (and in this thread it was Respironics Auto that was discussed) that in ramp the events aren't treated and that's not the case. As for "fully" treated as Julie wanted to clarify. Makes no difference...the machine will attempt to fix the problem and with ramp suspended it reverts to regular apap algorithm...if the event can't be "fully" treated...it wouldn't be without ramp either.
Just because someone isn't in ramp doesn't mean that everything gets "fully" treated....if it did we wouldn't be seeing apaps with AHIs needing to be reduced.
And look here...Smart Ramp...read what it says...suspending ramp is no longer limited to apap mode with the release of the DreamStation machines. If people are going to talk about what ramp will or will not do...get your facts straight is all I am asking.
