AirFit N20 Users
Hi,
Right now I wear a Nuance mask, which is a nasal pillow mask, and that is working well, but I am intrigued with the AirFit N 20. I saw the youtube review from LankyLefty and he pointed out the the hose that attaches at the front of the mask does not swivel. If my memory serves, I think he was disappointed in that. For those of you who currently use this mask--does this feature bother you at all? I would also know if you like the mask overall and if you have a problem with leaks. Also, you side sleepers--does the area with magnets leave marks on your face? I realize the magnets are not against your face, but I wonder if the slight weight difference might cause a mark?
I appreciate it! Thanks!

Re: AirFit N20 Users
After trying many masks, the N20 is my favorite by a long shot. I also have an F20 for those times when I have a cold or nasal congestion. The short hose piece that connects mask to the main tube is definitely attached at the mask with a swivel. You can also pinch this swivel to disconnect the hose from the mask. The magnets are great and don't leave any imprints on my face. I'm a 95% side sleeper and never notice any excessive leaks from the cushion. My leaks come from the mouth but they are not great enough to disturb my sleep.

Re: AirFit N20 Users
I use the n20 and like it. I have the small frame which fits me better than the regular size. As said earlier the hose does swivel. The magnets are placed at the end of my jaw bone, so I wouldn't notice anything.
I made my own mask liner which gives me better leak protection because I sleep on my stomach for most of the night.
Where I do get leaks is when I nod my head down into my chest, then the bottom will leak. I usually try to stuff my pillow under my chin to keep it up.

Oh, gosh, isn't that odd about the swivel? Maybe the review I saw was older? Before they added the swivel? I am glad you two cleared that up.
Is the liner inside the mask hard or soft and I assume it is silicone?

Re: AirFit N20 Users
It seems a lot of people like the N20, but I have better luck with the older N10. Not sure if other people have had the same experience. I get more leaks with the N20 and need the straps tighter to minimize leaks. The head gear on the N20 is a little more rigid than the N10. When I side sleep this rigidity makes the cushion move and causes leaks. I also find the N10 has a little more adjustment in the way the cushion sits on your face which helps to minimize leaks. The bad thing about the N10 is that the cushion is too wide on the bottom and blocks your nasal passages. When I get my new cushions I trim some off the bottom.

No hard parts touch your skin. Mostly, the straps are fabric. Each cheek has some rigid structure, but it is lined with a slightly squisshy jersey. The whole back of the head part is fabric only again more squisshy jersey.Sleeping Ugly wrote:Oh, gosh, isn't that odd about the swivel? Maybe the review I saw was older? When I side sleep, it does get leaky, but I just slide back a bit then forwards a bit and that firms it up. If I change positions, I wake up, so for me no problem.

Re: AirFit N20 Users
Just started fx air fit 20 for her last night. All other masks have failed. Kept nose snug therefore according to Sleepyhead --no leaks. Got hot and sweaty and woke up after 3 hrs. Never got back to sleep. Res med gave me an 81 for only 3 hrs. Not ready to shout from the rooftop that this mask is super. Its bulky and will take getting used to. Think I can do it. Prognosis is good.---Thinking are we talking about the same mask?

If a cushion type mask makes you sweaty, try a mask liner.
If needed, get a second one for changing into a "dry face".

Re: AirFit N20 Users
I retract what I said about the N20 being more rigid than the N10. I was studying the two again and the N20 headgear is less rigid or more supple. There's something about it though that is different then the N10, because when I side sleep the head gear pushes or pulls less on the cushion and causes leaks for me, thus I have to have the straps a good deal tighter. I don't get that with the N10. Probably has something to do with the shape of my face. Wish you the best in your mask search.

Re: AirFit N20 Users
I thank you all for your posts! I am intrigued by this mask and may very well order it and give it a try next payday. I like really like the headgear design--how it is not close to the eyes. I do wonder if it will feel a bit claustrophobic since my Nuance nasal pillow mask is so minimalistic as far as straps and covering parts of my face. I want as little on my face as possible.
Again, I thank you for sharing your experiences with the mask!

Make sure that you can return the N20 if you don't like it and get your money back.Sleeping Ugly wrote:I want as little on my face as possible.
It's on sale at cpap.com and comes with free return insurance.

Have you looked at the ResMed P10 nasal pillow mask? I also want as little on my face as possible and the P10 is about as minimal as you can get except for the TapPap which doesn't use any headgear at all (mouth guard to stabilize the pillows).

Re: AirFit N20 Users
The P10...yep. It's my primary mask and has been pretty much sense its release.Sleeping Ugly wrote:WOW, I just looked at the ResMed P10! That is way cool! I am going to do some more research on that! Pugsy, do you use this mask?
I have tried and/or used various nasal pillow masks over the years.
My main preference...as little on my face and head as possible and I will sacrifice a little stability for less "stuff" on my face and head.
They all have little pros and cons differences. One person's pro might be another person's con.
Just gotta try one to see how you feel about it.
I found that if a mask interested me then I would try it. Now sometimes things went well and sometimes what seemed like a good idea at the time ended up being not so good of an idea.
When you try new things you always learn something about yourself and your own personal preferences and needs.
Now sometimes I found the only thing I learned was how much I hated a mask. That happened with the Respironics Wisp. Long story there but I ended up using it only 90 minutes one night (longest 90 minutes of my life) before it was removed and returned to the DME.
And I have tried some masks that I would wonder how in the hell someone could use it successfully and found out that it really was quite comfortable. Might not replace my primary mask but I learned how come some people liked it so well.
The more you learn about yourself the better you will be able to judge if a newly released mask has a chance of working well for you or not.
I don't do any masks that touch the nasal bridge area on my nose. I learned a long time ago that doesn't work at all for me due to it causing congestion.
