Phillips Resperonics Amara View
Phillips Resperonics Amara View
New Mask Tonight. Drs therapist says full face--covers the mouth. Pillows under the nose connected to hard part that covers the mouth. Insurance no good this time. Allowed 5 masks the first month of treatment . Did that. Now had to pay Medicare cost of $86.00. Insurance will cover another mask every 2 months at this point . XXYYZ dont speak. The benefits of this insurance. They cover most of it--then IF you dont follow the rules and have to buy , its at medicare cost.
Has anyone used this mask?? TY

AMESS I did the very same thing as you. Tried every possible mask I could think of with the nasal things, not one would function correctly. I finally settled on my original full face resmed which I still use today. if nasal not working for u I suggest a full face...JMHO...

Re: Phillips Resperonics Amara View
I just took delivery of my Amara View mask today so first try out for me tonight too, we can compare notes. I've been wanting to try this out for some time, have heard a lot of good things but of course no mask is right for everyone. Expect to give it at least a few days before making final judgement, as with any change of parameters your body may need time to adjust. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Sounds like you're saying your using the hybrid, Nasal pillows and mouth cover. What exactly isn't working about it? I use moleskin on the nasal pillows and it lowers leakage. Thinking of doing that on the mouth part of the mask too as I have to tighten it pretty tight to get no side leakage at the mouth, and this ends up tightening too much on my philtrum area. I've had a red spot there the last few days when I finally got tired of the side leaks.

Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

Be sure not to over tighten the straps, also I just noticed there's a 5th adjuster for the crown strap which helps pull the top side straps up and away from your ears. I like the design of this mask, I think it'll be more comfortable than my current FFM.AMESS wrote:You all will be hearing from me tomorrow on amara view-

I hope it works Hannibel. I am sick and tired of this whole thing. The good news about this mask is it comes with one size pillow--sm-med, large--whatever you ordered. . If you need to change to a smaller or larger size pillow part, you do not have to buy new headgear.

Re: Phillips Resperonics Amara View
I used the Amara View for over a year. I changed to the Resmed F20 about six months ago. I still use the Amara View on occasions. The Amara View can be a little tricky getting adjusted the first time you use it. As with all masks, don't get the straps too tight. I found that if it is leaking around the nose, adjust the strap that goes over the top of the head which pulls the mask a little snugger under the nose. Don't pull it too tight or it may make your nose sore. Don't be surprised it it takes a couple nights to get the mask adjusted to your face. I have used mask liners I made when using this mask. If you are interested in making some, PM me with your regular email account and I will send you the pattern I used to make them.

Re: Phillips Resperonics Amara View
Hi,
I really like my Amara View. I got it from a fellow forum member who no longer needed it. I had tried 2 full face mask, and neither worked for me.
This works best for me, but is not perfect.
A coupla of things that may help.
1. I take a Med. in this mask, which is kinda strange as every thing about me is large, hence my user name. I had tried the large cushion but it leaked badly.
2. I found that this mask was a bit tricky regarding leaks when first putting it on. I now angle the cushion away from my chin, and put the point of my nose first then bring it to my mouth,
it gives me a better initial seal.
This mask took and takes a bit of patience ,I still struggle with leaks a few nights a week.
Hope this helps...Good Luck,
Dave

Thanks everybody for your comments. Weill see how it goes. I told the therapist today that they need to end water boarding at GITMO and give the prisioners a CPAP mask instead. Thats what I think of all this stuff!

Agreed...I don't believe the cruel and unusual punishment law applies at GITMO

Re: Phillips Resperonics Amara View
First impressions night 1.
Comfort is very good, I took a little time making sure the straps were not too loose and not too tight, ran a mask leak test and made some minor adjustments.
I had a few more wake ups than usual but put this down to settling into the new parameter.
Venting is reasonably quiet and blows upwards at about 45 degrees, hence it does not disturb my partner, which is a big plus.
A few minor leaks during the night but not as bad or as loud and farty as my F20, will check later on Sleepyhead.
AHI of 2.0 which is about average for me at the moment so more than happy with that for a first night.
I love that the mask sits under my nose, I no longer will have red marks on my bridge, made worse by being a glasses wearer.
No visible strap marks on my face as with F20.
Feeling pretty good today considering I only had 6.5 hours sleep.
Only thing I prefer about the F20 is the magnetic clips and the more robust hose to mask connector, everything else about the Amara View is winning for me at the moment.
Hope that helps.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I got a little discomfort from the cushion pulling up on my nose but I think that a minor adjustment of straps will resolve that.
