I think ergodicity is not the right term. BTW for other folks, "ergodic" describes a system in statistics that essentially says the long term average will be the same as a short=term average. I believe that all datasets will conform to "ergodicness" given sufficient time, short of a change in medical condition. I've been in a relatively stable state of health, and my averages for the last 5 years have been stable.
From personal experience, I use a week's worth of data before I feel comfortable making a change.
I don't know enough about sleep architecture to address the hypopnea question.

Re: how stable is your data ?
The devil is in the detail. Statistics will always vary, some more than others. My AHI ranges from 0 to ~1.5. Looking at the raw data I can usually understand why the value varies.
More important than the statistics is the raw data. Seeing the trends is very important. For example, too low of a minimum pressure when using Auto-PAP is easy to recognize (based on my limited experience).
When the treatment is far off, one night's worth of data is enough (after all professional titration occurs in one night).
Now that I consider my treatment to be very effective and have over a month worth of data at a single setting, I plan to try a subtle change. I will decrease my lower pressure by 1.

Re: how stable is your data ?
My data is pretty stable. Dr set pressure 5-20 and I am staying about 14. I saw the graphics in his office on his computer. I see about the same on my data. Down to 2.5 AHIs from 68. Biggest problem is leaks. Dr. says dont worry about leaks. Main things is AHIs
Re: how stable is your data ?
Leaks can impact the AHI negatively if the leaks are very big and very prolonged.A Mess wrote:Biggest problem is leaks. Dr. says dont worry about leaks. Main things is AHIs
So we can't just ignore all leaks...we have to understand what can happen and how it impacts the accuracy of the data reported.
Small leaks...not a big deal and even a large leak if it is very brief isn't the end of the world
but if you have large leaks deep into large leak territory that are prolonged that nice low AHI might not be really so nice and low...it might be low because the machine is simply missing flagging events because the leak is so bad it doesn't know what is going on. We don't know if that time in large leak with no event flags is because nothing happened or the machine was clueless.
People need to understand how to interpret the leak graphs so they can accurately assess the results.
So it all depends on
how deep a person goes into large leak territory and how long they stay there.
15 minutes not the end of the world...2 hours in deep in large leak territory could give a false low AHI during the 2 hours deep into large leak.
An hour just barely into large leak territory probably isn't that big of a deal because the machine will still be fairly accurate if it is just barely over the red line threshold.
So maybe the leaks aren't anything to worry about...but maybe they are.
People need to learn how to interpret the leak graphs themselves to know for sure.

Re: how stable is your data ?
Leaks. Small-med. mostly because of ill fitting mask. Always something. Turned in my medium size Res mirage for a small yesterday. Found not enough cushion under the nose. Could feel it leaking. Got worse when I turned over.
Going to get my old medium mask back today. Much better luck with that size. Thought is was too big. Maybe not. Geze making too many tracks to the medical place.

Re: how stable is your data ?
My data seems to be quite stable - it's all bad.
6-7 weeks on APAP yielded consistently bad sleep.
2 weeks on ASV is yielding consistently bad leaks, hypopneas, and high pressures.
I have, as yet, been unable to affect my data in any meaningful way - only managed to greatly increase leaks with the higher pressures.

Re: how stable is your data ?
Gee Max--do u have a medical store you can go to with a therapist--doctor? This is so frustrating. Trial and error sometimes yields nothing. I know this. Each mask is different, and how tight or loose you have it counts too. And the nose cushion has to be right too. Been there done that and still at it--even with help.
I know it makes you want to toss it all in the garbage-but keep going.
