I'm a little wary of Craigslist for an ASV.

So. I wrote my doctor for a script.

Did I get a script back?

No. They want to wait until it is determined if my machine is, in fact, broken. THEN they will send the script to the brick and mortar DME.

WTH???
You should have your own copy in your own hands of your RX no matter what is or isn't wrong with the machine.

Pretty much what I wrote back to them, pointing out that as I travel a lot, I might need it. (Skipping over the fact that I should have it in hand, any way.)

My physician did the same thing to me in 2014, even though the physician understood the machine was broken...picked a brand new one off if CL that very evening.

It's like the physician thought there was insurance fraud involved if I got a new prescription and bought it with my own money.

One must always be careful with craigslist....

Here's a 960 with 98 hours for way too high a price..but the price will come down over time.

The medical professionals are being silly and controlling again, sigh.

I keep a copy of my script in the cloud in case of a machine failure while away from home. The copy can be accessed from anywhere in the world with any decent browser and internet connection.

Actually, I have two back-ups, my old Beastie (with about 13,000 hours on it) and Beastie the Second, which I got brand new off the old CPAP Auction, and which has less than 100 hours on it.

I now have the script in hand, and, low and behold, it's for a Dream Station or successor. And they actually got the script mostly right.

I keep copies of all my scripts in the cloud, along with all the Houndly Hounds' vaccination and medical records. But when I got the 960 three years ago, they didn't want to give me a copy, and I didn't push because at the time, I didn't have a smart phone. Now I do, and now I have a scanned copy where I can access it from phone or computer.

I've only had a problem with my machine once in 9 years, and that was losing a small plastic piece off the old Beastie's humidifier, which didn't require a script. It just required that Apria get off its duff and DO some customer service for a change. Since they weren't willing to do that, having or not having the script made no difference.

However, as is said, there's always a first time, and nothing like NOW for one to get off one's own posterior and get some ducks in a row which ought to have been there.

Shipped my 960 off to Accurate Biomed; it should get there early next week and then we'll see.

My husband says to go ahead and get the Dream Station if I want it.

And, of course, there's the question of... if I am going to get a Dream Station ASV, where is the best place to get it from, since our good hosts, CPAP.COM, not longer carry ASVs. (I naturally checked them first, because THEY have a copy of my older script on file.)

AND where to acquire proper manuals for same.

You can get a used, low-hours, 6-month-seller-warranty for $1399 at - http://www.secondwindcpap.com/Used_CPAP.html

I am perfectly happy with the used APAP bought from them.

The manual is easy to get
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual
Just request it via email.

I second the vote for secondwindcpap.com as a reliable source for a new or gently used machine.

Thank you -- I shall have to call them in the morning, provided Hurricane Nate hasn't arrived for his visit to the French Quarter.

Yes, and they had a new Dream Station. I extracted a new script from my doctor's office by pointing out that I was not going through insurance, and I'd be scorched if I was going to pay $7000 out of pocket to get a machine from a brick-and-mortar DME when I could get the exact same machine for half or a third that price by ordering it on-line.

The new machine is supposed to be shipped today, and I should have it in hand by Friday. Which means I can return the rental as soon as I have it. Maybe sooner, as my Old Beastie still works.

So glad it's still possible to get good recommendations here!
