Pulmonologist//Sleep Dr/Ins.

Post by A MESS » Tue Oct 03, 2017 11:01 am

I will go back to my sleep Dr one more time..or when he requires me to for insurance purposes. The medicare rule is he has to document I am using the machine and have been for at least 30 days. If Medicare does not pay, my secondary will not pick up the other 20 percent. In addition if the ins. company does not get this info, they will not continue paying for the machine, nor will I be able to exchange masks free of charge. If I did not go to the Dr in the beginning, I would have never gotten to a sleep lab on Medicare. All good reasons to go with the flow.

As for insurance other than the above. I know nothing

Is there any reason we need to know this? Do you have a question hidden in there?

I had two nice donuts left over from yesterday, but couldn't eat them or coffee. Last night at dinner I forgot to shoot up my insulin, haven't recovered yet, so I only get 15 Pills for breakfast. #4

We definitely need more Spam Button Police here. They took mine away once even though I did nothing wrong. Last thing I'd do is delete someones post out of spite! Maybe the Spam Police are out getting Coffee and Donuts! Jim

Medicare has a habit of changing the rules without notice--sometimes without even updating their website.
A large number of DME's have a habit of blaming every shirty thing they choose to do on Medicare.
The only way to keep up is by CALLING Medicare--(is your phone fully charged?)

A Mess - Make sure, in the meantime, that you get a copy of your original study - this includes both the raw data and the summarized report. Also, get a copy of your prescription (signed) so that you can use it to make the occasional purchase from an online retailer or any other place where you aren't using Medicare. Will save you a LOT of hassles in the future.

I'll tell you now that a year or so from now when the DME requests an updated prescription, the sleep doc will not update it unless you come in. That's when you want to make sure that you are on top of things with your Primary who can then take over. One less doc visit.

I just said the one thing I know for certain on the subject:
