Harrassment
Re: Harrassment
I had 30 days to find a mask, to switch them out as often as necessary. I thought that was kinda standard.

not to harass you or anything, but could you possibly stop making a new post when you want to respond to something? this becomes very confusing, very fast.Amess wrote:Don't make harrassing comments if you dont know. I said I am well insured and have since I started CPAP three weeks ago, I have changes masks 4 times with no charge.
thank you!

Re: Harrassment
And people thought I was a troll. Amess, question for you. Did you come to the forum to try and help others or did you come to learn? Because it sounds to me like you want to give YOUR advice, what YOU'VE learned, in the hopes that it will help others. That in and of itself is a noble cause. Now, it is completely unrealistic in any sane way that someone would actually believe that in a forum they would never be challenged. Unless this is your first time on the internet, you should know this. If it is your first time then I'll let you in on a little secret... *whispers* human beings disagree... I know, its crazy! Its unfair! Get used to it buddy. This is the jungle, get ready to be challenged. Cant have open discussion without challenging each other. You don't want to be challenged? Start a blog.

Re: Harrassment
It has nothing at all to do with insurance and the only role the DME plays in this is to honor the mask mfg policy. The DME only has to process some paperwork to get their stock replaced - some will do it other don't. If they don't it's time to find another DME cuz you will only have other problems if the won't honor the mask mfgs policy.xxyzx wrote:you had very good insurance andor DME
mine lets me get a second one in 60 days if i dont like the first one
Yes it is standard policy cuz if you can't wear the mask you won't use their equipment, eh? And it usu allows for as many changes as needed to get you sleeping but the DME may impose limitations.

Re: Harrassment
Medicare pays for 1 mask per the allowance period.
Medicare won't pay for any mask swapping going on.
If a person happens to get a DME that allows an unlimited number of swapping within a certain time frame then it's their own in house policy.
Medicare pays for 1 mask...not 5 in the first month.
DMEs who keep giving masks to try are getting reimbursed from the mask manufacturer utilizing the 30 days return policy that each mask has.
It just means the DME is willing to do the extra paperwork to get reimbursed for the masks supplied that they can't bill insurance/Medicare for.
My DME allows 60 days after getting a mask to swap it out for something else. I can swap it for as many masks as I might want to try within 60 days. Even now after 8 years of therapy I can do this.
I asked once...you mean I could try every mask you have in stock if I wanted to...and the answer was "yep".
They have a very generous mask swapping policy. Most DMEs don't...
They all make their own in house rules and it's legal.
But any swapping done isn't because someone's insurance pays for half a dozen mask trials...it's because the DME is willing to do the extra work to get reimbursed for the masks that they dispense but won't/can't bill insurance for because insurance has already been billed for the very first mask and that's the only mask that insurance will pay for until the allowance period is up.
Now some insurance will pay for a second mask sooner if the doctor writes a special RX....those insurance plans are rare..
Most are like Medicare...they pay for one mask and won't pay for another until 3 months is up.

unlikely any insurance does that but if yours does then good for you
or maybe they just didnt get around to billing you yet
Wouldn't it be nice if these two assholes could go off in a private corner and "duke it out?"
