Well, I am not where I think my doctor was hoping I would be by today. I have done virtually nothing the last three days, letting my chores get piled up.

I decided to make the bed this morning and I could feel how much I was aggravating the situation. Obviously, it's still very tender.

I have called my doctor's office and left a message. So, we'll see what they have to say. I suspect it will be a referral to an orthopedic.

Your ability to hang in there and keep on keeping on is an inspiration. I hope you get something out of sharing, but we get inspired to press on through adversity. t\Thank you and passing prayers for a recovery, sooner rather than later.

Well, doctor suggested we try a non sedating muscle relaxant over the weekend and see if helps. I asked my daughter if she could come over and do some of these chores that are piling up, but it didn't work out. My husband was home early yesterday and was helping me, but I made a bad move while folding laundry and found myself completely unable to move. Any movement caused excruciating pain again. My husband brought my wheelchair in and managed to help me get into it. It's been pretty bad since then.

So today is another "do nothing" day. The second muscle relaxant is supposed to be non sedating and to that, I say "yeah, right." I'm waiting now to get my lunch (from my wheelchair - sandwich & cup of soup using my Keurig) - then I'm going to take my mid day meds and lay down for the afternoon.

If it's still this bad Monday, I guess I need to call and move onto to something else. They said yesterday that they would recommend physical therapy next. I guess we'll see.

IMHO they need to find out exactly what is causing the pressure on the nerve in the first place and then discuss various options for fixing it.
Physical therapy is fine once we make sure that whatever the problem is..is fixable with physical therapy.

Right now they are guessing and I don't like guessing when there are ways to find out exactly what is going on.
Time and rest and anti inflammatories (oral and the steroid injection) aren't working so it's time to do an in depth work up.

See the specialist.

Agree 100%

There are times surgery makes sense, however much we might not like the idea, but they can do it quickly and safely these days and suffering needlessly while they try to see what else might stick. given your state of state, doesn't seem to be helping.

If you do need surgery and that's an if, find you a neurosurgeon to do it not and orthopedic doctor. When you mess around the spine you want a neurosurgeon.

Agreed. We'll see how I'm doing on Monday and take it from there. I was feeling a lot better yesterday until I worked on the laundry. Maybe it WAS getting better and I just did something a little too soon.

Today is pretty good. It's not bothering me too much but I'm still not moving too quickly or making any sudden movements. It's pretty good right now actually.

But if it's still giving me problems on Monday, I think it is time to find out exactly the what & why instead of waiting.
