Winx

Post by ryan15523p » Mon Sep 11, 2017 2:52 pm

Does anyone know why apnicure, the maker of the winx sleep system is not being responsive? The machine really is helping me and I would like to purchase a back-up, but the company just hasn't responded in months. If you have one you're willing to part with I'll buy it. Please let me know. ryan15523p @ yahoo .com

How do you know it works?
Recent information suggests they are closed.
(NOT by the FDA?)

are they really closed
did they move
do they have other locations

their website is still up and running
If you looked at their web site...you should be able to answer your own questions. The web site is dated 2017.

It looks like there is a company in Taiwan trying to develop a negative pressure therapy system -- http://www.somnics.com/ -- I found them after coming across https://www.omicsonline.org/open-access ... ?aid=90004

Hopefully, they''ll make it into the U.S., as my Winx does help me, but I can no longer get the supplies for it.

Just looks from his other post like he's a Winx user who was searching for info on this board and sharing what he's found out. Sometimes a newbie is just a newbie.

If this product helps anywhere cpap will not, I wonder why it is not more successful.
Of course, there is the caution to avoid use after tooth extraction, to prevent a dry socket.
Surely, that alone would not fully negate any benefits, and it would get onto insurance company radar.

Correct. Actually, at the risk of sounding like I'm making another product placement, this whole thing happened becaues a friend-of-a-friend shared an ad for Vivos that she had worked on (it's a funny but long commercial for a device that appears to work somewhat similar to a MAD, but different). I reposted it on Facebook, and a friend commented about his MAD, and I mentioned my Winx, and then remembered that I saw a postcard about Winx going out of business (it was an assignment to creditors notice or something) -- and decided to spend a few minutes to see more what the story was.

That brought me to this forum, and after some more searching, I found that Taiwanese company that was mentioned in a research abstract as the (AFAIK) only other negative-pressure therapy device.

I'm a Winx user -- it's not perfect, but it's heck of a lot better than not using it, and much more comfortable than a CPAP (and I was tearing them off in my sleep) or a MAD (I've developed a significant under-bite from the MAD). So while it might not be a complete solution, nor even a solution for everyone, I really think it (and other products like it) has a place in the market.

As a OSA person, I obviously have an interest in the space. During the past 15 years, I once interviewed with ResMed years ago (ended up not being a fit), advised a company that was developing a CPAP mask improvement using new 3D design workflow, and helped refined an investigatory medical device on an alternative method to promote opening up the airways.

As for whether I'm a shill for a company -- if there's one or two posts pointing to a brand new product, and it's not overtly pushing the product, I don't see why you *wouldn't* want that? I object to astroturf as much as the next guy, but let's not assume all product mentions are hail-corporate planeted posts!

Sounds like Resmed may have thought they would have to pay you by the word. Jim
