Resperonics vs Resmed

Post by rozr1111 » Sat Sep 09, 2017 8:20 pm

Just switched back to PR System One AFlex machine from Resmed S9 Autoset. Using Resmed, AHI was usually under 5. Now back on PR machine, it's been over 10.bAnyone have any ideas on why this should be the case? I have Kaiser which supports only PR equipment and I wanted to get stats before seeing sleep technician.

Also, Sleepyhead won't take the input from PR machine; it was fine with Resmed. Sleepy

Thanks...

I don't know why SleepyHead won't work with your Respironics machine..it's worked with Respironics PR System One machines for quite some time now.

The simplest explanation is that the settings are different. You really need to use sleepyhead as it shows you the results and it also states the settings.

resmed fudges the data to look better ?

they have different criteria to determine apnea hypops fl/reras etc ?

they have different sensors and algorithms that see the same data differently ?

they have manufacturing tolerances and your pressure is different ?

you are sleeping differently and the AHI increased naturally ?
RIGHT! It's a libtard conspiracy my Resmed. Typical asinine xxyzx post. REMEMBER:IF XXYZX SAYS IT, ITS PROBABLY BS.

I just wanted to say that I often switch back and forth between a Phillips System One 560 and a Res Med Autoset, depending on whether or not I need to run off a battery, and my readings, according to Sleepyhead, are identical. My AHI is routinely <.5 on the same settings, on both machines.

Most people can switch the two brands without any change in how they feel or their therapy numbers. Some of us can't. The auto on Respironics just doesn't work for me and I ended up switching to straight pressure until my replacement Resmed machine came in.

Kaiser doesn't have a single preferred manufacturer. You should be able to push for a Resmed auto if that is what you want. However, if you have Kaiser HMO, you are stuck with the limited options they offer. However, your ability to provide data that shows your therapy is much better with Resmed could garner you an exception.
