Mouth tapers what do you use?

Hi All mouth tapers,

As I moved into the higher pressures, my lips started leaking air. So, I taped my mouth.

I am using some Nexium paper tape, but, it hurts to remove. This morning it took part of my lip. Ouch!

Does anybody have suggestions, either for product or methodology?

That's not a bad tape for your purpose. Before you apply the tape, put a liberal amount of chapstick on the fleshy part of your lips. This will help with easy release of the tape in the morning.

I stopped taping and instead use the Ultimate Chinstrap. I use a clean sock as a liner so I rarely have to wash the chin strap. I use a mouth guard to protect the teeth from grinding. Been using it for ~7 years.

I use 3M Microfoam for the primary tape across my lips. It's easy to remove. Sometimes when I have some leaks, I will supplement it with some 3M Micropore tape. The Micropore tape will remove my skin, so I use it sparingly.

Chinstraps don't stop mouth breathing, however, the mouthguard might.

Does lipstick work too ?

One drawback may be that the tape on top may not look the most attractive when going out !

The 3M microfoam tape does not appear to be sold in Canada, but I will look out for it next time we're in the States.

What material is used for the ultimate chinstrap? It looks like cotton. Does it have some padding as well?

I never found it locally, so I ordered it through Amazon.
