Cpap machine not capturing full night
So used my cpap last night for the first time. I use the nose pillow, I think that's what he type of mask is called? I woke up this morning after almost 7 hours of sleep and the machines power was in and the air was coming through and mask still in my face. I looked at my info and it said I only used it for 49 minutes? How is that possible? What did I do wrong?
Re: Cpap machine not capturing full night
Which brand and model machine? If it is a ResMed machine have you checked to make sure the clock on the machine is correct?
What time did you wake up and look at the machine?

Re: Cpap machine not capturing full night
Did you stop therapy shortly after noon? Or, perhaps more accurately, shortly after the machine thought it was noon? All of the machines I have used count the day as being from noon to noon. Consequently, if you start at 4:00 AM and stop at 12:49 PM, the screen will show 49 minutes of use on the screen upon stopping. However, if you read the card using something like SleepyHead the software will combine the segment from 4:00 AM to noon with the segment noon to 12:49 PM and report the day's usage as 8 hours 49 minutes of use for the session.Cincylady wrote: I looked at my info and it said I only used it for 49 minutes? Re: Cpap machine not capturing full night
This is true..noon to noon but complicated a bit by Respironics machines whose internal clock is set to GMT time.JimW159 wrote:All of the machines I have used count the day as being from noon to noon.
So it's Noon GMT time where the new reporting day starts. Further complicated by the fact that if your turn the machine off briefly and back on again it might not break up the session if you happen to split Noon GMT time.
Unless someone is living in the UK the Respironics noon to noon thing gets a bit complicated when looking at the LCD screen data.
Now once we use the software it all gets fixed up but just on the LCD screen it can really look like the machine has lost a bunch of hours.

Thank you for your response. I went so bed around 11:30 pm and woke up around 6:00 am. The clock is set to the correct time.

The Respironics machines don't have an internal clock for you to set. The new DreamStation models will allow you to do a time zone adjustment but that is all. There is no actual clock setting for you to make....just the time zone adjustment.Cincylady wrote: I went so bed around 11:30 pm and woke up around 6:00 am. The clock is set to the correct time.
Depending on where you live you may have happened to check the LCD screen after 12 noon GMT time and the machine started a new reporting day.
Or it simply hadn't changed the sleep time on the LCD screen. Meaning it just hadn't had a chance to update yet to reflect the total hours used.
Did you check it again later in the day or tonight to see if it ever corrected itself?
When you first turn the machine off it won't show the total hours until after the 12 noon GMT time has passed.
So if you got up early (before GMT time) and looked at the LCD screen it won't show all the hours used until after GMT time has passed. It depends on where you live in relation to GMT time.
Use the available software to make sure that something weird isn't going on with the recording function on your machine.

While the machine may not immediately show all the hours when you turn it off....the correct hours of usage will show up immediately on the SD card.
