And there is a reason there are so many masks out there... everyone's face is different, and no one mask works for everyone. Don't be afraid to try different masks, and if one simply does not work, go back to the DME you got it from. Most manufacturers will reimburse DMS's for masks returned within 30 days (although few DME's will tell you this).
IMHO, the mask is THE critical piece of the cpap therapy 'puzzle'. Nearly every cpap or apap machine will provide perfectly adequate therapy for anyone (at least those who do not have a need for bipap). The same cannot be said of masks.
Good luck!

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.
Re: Trouble, Trouble, Trouble
I really WANT to like my mask, because it is not so massive, but the information I have in Dreammapper and in Sleepyhead are showing quite a bit of discrepancy as far as fit. Last night, for example, Dreammapper said I had 100% mask fit and Sleepyhead shows I has a LOT of mask leak. I believe Sleepyhead. I fought that mask all freaking night!
Is there anyone who can interpret some of the data from Sleepyhead? I am overwhelmed!

You have a Respironics machine and the large leak threshold percentage calculations in SleepyHead are based on a ResMed threshold number. That number won't work well for Respironics users because Respironics machines report leak differently.Sleeping Ugly wrote: I have in Dreammapper and in Sleepyhead are showing quite a bit of discrepancy as far as fit. Go to SleepyHead/Preferences/CPAP tab and either change the number used for red line threshold to something more in line with a Respironics machine or just turn it off.
SleepyHead often tells Respironics users that they are having massive leaks when they aren't.
If you aren't seeing Large Leak flags on the events graph (that's what the LL is) then you aren't having any large leaks.
Respironics never gives us an exact number where large leak territory begins because it varies by mask and by pressures but if you change that 24 L/min number to something around 50 or 60 L/min you will have a nice conservative threshold. In reality large leak territory is probably even higher but you can use 60 and still have some wiggle room.
If DreamMapper is showing 100% mask fit...you aren't haven't any trips into large leak territory and the statistic from SleepyHead showing so and so % of time over the red line threshold is incorrect because it is based on the wrong baseline leak threshold number.
I wish Mark (who came up with SleepyHead) had not made the default for that statistic the ResMed number. It totally confuses people who don't understand that the 2 brands have different was of reporting leaks and causes stress and panic when there is not need.
This therapy is stressful enough without add unnecessary stress.
And yes, lots of people here can tell you what the SleepyHead data numbers mean.
