Machine quit working

Post by mygoats » Fri Aug 18, 2017 12:49 pm

My Fisher and Paykel Icon Auto+ quit working. It worked just fine. We were out of town for one night and a power outage happened in our area. Went to use the machine that night and -- nothing. It won't come on. Even tried plugging into different outlet. Any ideas? Is there a fuse? Thank you in advance.

Took a quick look at the brochure from their website. From the list of replacement parts I don't think there is a replaceable fuse. However it does indicate that it should come with a Users Manual. Do you still have it? And if so, are there any sections regarding technical support? You may be able to contact the company directly if it got fried by the power outage.

I have the manual, it does not show any information on what to do in this situation. It does say that there are no replaceable parts, only the Mfg. can work on the machine. I just thought it strange that this would quit working, when the other cpap machine we have, different brand, had no problem after the storm. Insurance said machine is not covered/replaceable till after November. I guess my wife will have to use a Breath Right strip...

You can buy a gently used machine for not much money privately if you wish.

I am having the same problem with my machine. I didn't have a power outage; all I did was take the machine with me on a trip and when I plugged it back in--NOTHING. I have since moved since I got the machine and I can't find a DME company w/I a 5 hr. drive that even sells fisher-paykel machines. That's a bad sign. I am SO FRUSTRATED I could . . . .
I have had NO LUCK in contacting the company either. I guess I am out of luck and will have to break down and get a new machine. I CANNOT sleep without this machine.

This is a known issue with the F&P Icon. They issued a recall a few years back. My machine died out of warranty and the DME found a used replacement free of charge (which to their credit, they did not have to do). They told me they have had so many of them die they don't carry them any more and they are trying to find replacements for the ones that do.

Now my replacement machine died over the holiday. I'd be screwed if I didn't also have a Somnetics Transcend that I use for camping. However it's drying my face off and is way noisy, so with the new year I'm going ResMed and saying to goodbye to F&P forever. They suck. Sorry for the bad news, OP. I suggest calling your DME if you have one.

I had my second machine die when I was out of town on vacation. Mine was still under warranty, so my DME swapped it out for me. I have since purchased a back up machine to use if this ever happens again. Since my wife uses the same model machine as I do, we only need to have one spare. I am thinking about looking for a second spare machine.
