New Sleep Doc
So, my sleep doc won't treat me anymore without a new sleep study, my third in a 9-month period. There are a few reasons why I cannot do that. So, I'm looking for a new sleep doc who might have a different approach. Sleep docs have different medical backgrounds ranging from pulmonology to neurology to ear-nose-and throat. Is one better than the other? Or, are those that specialize in sleep medicine the best? I really need at this point someone who can handle complex sleep apnea.
Re: New Sleep Doc
I'd definitely be inclined to skip the ENT as they're focused on surgery as an option for treatment. I would also, at least at first, opt for a neurologist trained in sleep problems as your central (complex) events are less of a respiratory nature than neuro. based. But if the timing doesn't work out - if wait times are long - a pulmonologist with sleep training would not be 'wrong' if you're comfortable with them otherwise.
Re: New Sleep Doc
My sleep doc is a neurologist. I certainly recommend a neurologist sleep doc in your case, given that your condition has a central component. I also say the same if Narcolepsy is suspected.
I'm a little puzzled as to why you would need another sleep test, given that you're already had three recently. They are all recent, so why are they not usable?

Does this doc own or have an interest in the sleep lab? Did he say why? I would be very suspicious.lwieland11 wrote:So, my sleep doc won't treat me anymore without a new sleep study, my third in a 9-month period.
