420 e FL -1 and FL-0

Post by jacko » Wed Dec 06, 2006 12:38 am

G'Day Guys
My 420e machine went a pressure of 16 last night ,it is set 8.5 to 16
I woke up and it stayed at 16 until turned it off and on again
The F & P 432 FF mask that I was using for the first time last night was leaking when I woke up
I dont know if the leak made it go to 16 or it leaked because it went to 16
It has been suggested I might turn off the FL 1 I can do that with the buttons to FL-0 ,thats off is it
But what am I doing if I do that what is the F L , should I do it
Thanks Jacko

man it has been so long since I had that machine, but I think it toggles it on or off, FL1=0 would be off, and FL1=1 would be On (binary off, on). I think by default FL1 comes set On.

I wouldn't mess with FL2. I don't think there is a FL0, but I could be wrong, I'd wait for RG or ozij to chime in, they still have that machine and know more about the FL1 setting. I know RG knows what it does by toggling it.

Although I dont use my PB420e now, toggling Fl1 made a huge difference to the comfort level and it cured the problem you described.

Yep, the FL1 makes a world of difference. I had runaway pressures also with it on. Turned it off (using the Silverlining software) and no more runaways.

Best of luck!

Jacko, you can turn IFL1 off either way....through the software (going into the "Advanced" settings) or through the buttons on the machine.

If you use the software to do it, set IFL1 to "0". Leave IFL2 "on". While you're there (in the Advanced menu) I'll mention this, even though it has nothing to do with IFL1 and IFL2...do leave the "Maximum pressure for Command on Apnea" set at the default of 10 cm.

If you use the buttons on the machine to turn IFL1 off, the setting you'll see in the window says only "FL" -- that actually is IFL1, even though it says "FL". You can turn it off there, with the buttons. There will be no separate settings in the window for IFL1 or IFL2. "FL" in the window does mean IFL1.

Jacko, you've been using your 420E for quite awhile. So, if this is the only night it's run up to the top of your pressure range, I wouldn't worry about IFL1. As you said, it could have been a high leak pushing it up and up. If the machine has been behaving (not running up to your maximum pressure) on most other nights, I'd leave IFL1 on.

I had to turn off IFL1, but most people won't have to. If I were you, I'd look at the 96 hour graph on the "Detailled" [sic] page of the software. That will show your sessions for the last couple of weeks.

If this was the only night that you saw the wild climb in pressure, I don't think you need to worry about turning off IFL1. That's one of the beauties of having the Silverlining software for your PB 420E.... you can see better "what's happening."
