Depressed and tired

Might be too much info but here you go!

I quit drinking back in February and have been attending AA. I thought I'd feel a bunch better But that's not the case.

I'm waiting to get going on my sleep study and treat, what I believe to be apnea with CPAP. In the meantime, I started using the TAP3 with some results. I hate the feeling of afternoon fatigue -- I need to nap just about every day!! If I don't use the oral appliance, I wake up with a feeling of depression. I'm posting for some empathy...I'm tired, depressed

Do you want empathy or honest useful ESH? In both cases, one needs to trust the process and time takes time. This is why support systems are so invaluable. In both cases, others know so much more than we do (yet) because they have been through it and doing it for a while.

All of us get to start our lives over and become the people we want to become.

Welcome, Rickaroo.

It's pretty normal to feel some depression when navigating any major change in our lives. We are leaving behind old patterns, and until the new ones are fully accepted and integrated into our daily round, there is a mourning period to go through, even if the new situation is better/happier/more pleasant than the old one.

Be gentle with yourself. Keep your new goals in mind. Work it one day at a time. Glance back once in a while to see how far you've come, and give yourself credit for the change.

Jean
O soft embalmer of the still midnight,
Shutting, with careful fingers and benign,
Our gloom-pleas'd eyes, embower'd from the light,
Enshaded in forgetfulness divine
-- John Keats
