Airfit F10 vs Airfit F20 - also, chest congestion?
Airfit F10 vs Airfit F20 - also, chest congestion?
I've been using the Airfit F10 rather faithfully after the initial few weeks of attempting to use a Dreamwear mask (It's a great mask - I'm just a mouth breather and the chin strap aggravated some TMJ issues). July makes six months and with Illinois Medicaid, I was eligible for a new mask. Having always been the type of person who has the latest technology, I wanted to be the same with my masks and asked for the latest model, Airfit F20.
Anybody have any experience with switching from the F10 to the F20? Pros? Cons? Complaints or praises?
Also, I've noticed the past few nights though, that I wake up with a heavy chest, like I'm all congested or something. My heated hose is set to a 3 and my humidity is set to a 4 (I'm using the Dreamstation Auto-PAP machine). Do y'all experienced CPAP'ers think the humidity is just set too high and that is what is causing this congestion?

I like the f20 it's a single piece and doesn't have a skirt, use the blow pressure mask fit function on your machine, loosen till it leaks and just tighten till it stops, repeat a few times top and bottom straps

Thanks @ajack - Did you happen to use the F10 before switching to the F20 by any chance? My DME tried say something about the cushion being different, something about it being more round (The respiratory tech was in a hurry and squeezed my order in between appointments).

I changed from the F10 to the F20 and find it much better, despite still having some leak issues (which I had worse with the F10). I find the F20 much more comfortable with many less red marks left on my face. I also find it much easier to use with the magnetic connectors. (I should receive the F20 AirTouch today, which I am hoping will be even better, it has the same headgear/magnets as the F20 but with a memory foam mask, though I have read that some have leak issues with this too.)

I currently use an f10, I am actually shopping online now for an airfit f20, not the airtouch f20.. apparantly with the airtouch, the gel cushion has to be replaced every month!
good luck
good luck

Re: Airfit F10 vs Airfit F20 - also, chest congestion?
I recently switched from the N20 to the F20 because I was being awakened too often with mouth breathing. I have no experience with the F10 other than seeing one at a friend's house. The F20 has the new magnets instead of the hooks that are on the side of the F10, which I think is an improvement. Also, I believe there were some changes made in the cushion to provide a better more universal fit. I am very happy with the F20, and my leaks have disappeared. Be sure to use the Resmed F20 sizing template for this mask:

I was surprised to find that I needed a large even though I had been using a medium with the Resmed N20. Others have also commented on the sizing issue.

Re: Airfit F10 vs Airfit F20 - also, chest congestion?
Last night I used the AirTouch F20 for the first time. For me it is easily the best mask I have tried so far. It is extremely comfortable to wear and - unlike some others who have tried it - my leak rate significantly improved to 0.01% LL, the lowest it has been for me. There were still some marks on my face (though I may be able to fit it looser) - but these were indentations where the mask had been, and not the sore or unsightly red marks that the F10 used to give me.
In summary: I found the AirFit F20 to be a significant improvement on the F10. It seems the AirTouch F20 is even better but this is written with the caveat that I have used it for one night only!

Second night with the AirTouch F20 and again maximum comfort with minimum leakage. I have read other posts where some people started off well with this mask but then their experience deteriorated, so I'll keep that in mind but at the moment it's so far so good for me.

Re: Airfit F10 vs Airfit F20 - also, chest congestion?
Just a follow-up post.
I picked up the F20 today and while it does seem that the cushion is a little smaller than the F10, the difference is minimal. I was one of the people who fell in between the small and medium cushions on the F10, and that seems to be where I am with the F20. The small cushion falls just below my bottom lip to where I *could* go up to a medium, but the tech and I agreed that then the medium would probably have been *too* big.
The tech did tell me that she's only sold three of the F20 mask/headgears so far, so either people in my area don't do a lot of research and just go with what's offered, or a lot of people have ended up switching them out for something else (I'm inclined to believe it's the former of the two)
The headgear seems to be okay (not much change from the F10 honestly) - I am liking the magnetic hooks on the bottom, as long as they don't somehow work themselves loose in the middle of the night.

My wife and I have both used the F20 for about three months and never had the magnetic buckle come undone during the night.

Re: Airfit F10 vs Airfit F20 - also, chest congestion?
I absolutely love my F10 full face, but I'm going to try the F20. The secret to these masks is to avoid getting it too loose or too tight. Too loose and you will get air squeaks and leaks. Too tight and the inner plastic will rub your skin raw. Once you use it for a few days you will find the perfect fit for you. I'm a heavy side sleeper and this is the only full face mask that has ever worked consistently.
I also tried the F10 nasal pillow and nasal versions, but I kept getting nasal congestion. I had never tried a full face before, and now I will never go back. It's like heaven!
I'll try to update this forum once I have tried the F20 for a while.

Too bad Re$med and Medicare refuse to compromise on price.
This makes the foam cushion hard to get for Medicare patients.

Does the Airfit F20 cushion fit the same headgear as the Airfit F10 please?

The F20 headgear is different from the F10 headgear. They are interchangable,
