Got an email from my DME pushing So-Clean

Post by D.H. » Fri Jul 28, 2017 8:46 am

I think that the consensus on this forum is that So-Clean is useless or even worse.

However, I just got an email from my DME. I really haven't had any issues with this DME. However, I'm an eighteen year CPAP user and don't need very much support; just supplies. I'm not sure how much support I would get if I needed it.

rebates and profit in general, are a great motivator to push product. I wouldn't buy one.

No matter what business you are in, they sometimes push some useless product because OTHERS are selling it and people think if you aren't selling it that you aren't a very good business. Saw this with Aquarium business as well. Lots of junk stuff from Hartz will kill your fish/pet, but people WANT that product?! It's because they don't investigate so don't know any better.

All that advertising can be quite convincing--even when it is all lies.
The scary part is that if the forum sponsors ever stock it, we may have to STFU.

SoClean’s message is urgent. The risk is real as many users become ill from improperly cleaned CPAP equipment. Unlike the traditional soap and water cleaning approach, SoClean’s natural approach to CPAP sanitizing kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, which leads to a healthier breathing experience."

Quite a bit of advertising...radio, tv, internet. I hear people parrot this unsanitary nonsense everywhere I go.

If it was as good as they claim it is, they would not need to spend so much money on advertising. Satisfied users would help sell it through word of mouth.

Strange world we live in ... CPAP masks require a prescription but ozone generators for CPAP-disinfecting use do not. I drank from the garden hose when I was a kid, so it's too late for me. The rest of you, save yourselves!
Seriously though, it shoots "activated oxygen" through the mask and "completely sanitizes your CPAP mask, hose, and reservoir." But those are the parts that are easy to clean by hand. How about the internals of the flow generator? That is the part I would be concerned about if I were immunocompromised or otherwise concerned about molds and bacteria.

So did I and from a DME I don't even use! I deleted the email. End of subject. I get many emails that I delete or click spam so that I won't have to see them again.
